  • Hard News: About Arie,

On radio station BFM on February 28, Mr Goff talked about meeting a man in Linwood whose sister was killed in the quake, whose house had been badly damaged but then it was ransacked by looters.

"I saw the army out in the street and I thought court martial, firing squads you just can't believe how low a small minority of people can get," he told the radio station.

    Later...

Mr Goff said it was clear he was joking.

"I was making the point that first of all I had absolute contempt for anybody who would exploit other people's misery at a time like this but I was making a joke ... It was obviously not intended to be taken seriously by anyone other than the most dim-witted National Party blogger."

Fucking weasel; can't even get his lies right either. According to Goff, his response to a bereaved man who's just had his house burgled (Maurice Gardiner, presumably) is to make jokes about it. I'm sure that even "the most dim-witted National Party blogger" will notice that.

For the record, Phil, the correct response is: "I didn't really mean it. My anger over the situation caused me misspeak", ie the fucking truth!!

    Fuck!

Can we please get rid of this clown already?!

    Other: How are you doing?
Aspie: How am I doing what?

Other: Working hard or hardly working?
Aspie: Umm... somewhere in the middle.

    Other: Have a nice day!
    Aspie: Oh... Thanks; I will.

    I've noticed this about you.

Which reminds me... The preponderance of evidence, whilst far from conclusive, appears to indicate that you are likely more correct than I was about moa.

Chris, could you perhaps point to where anyone here has labelled you with the term "Aspie"? Not used the term generally, but used it specifically in your direction.

To be fair, it amount to the same thing.

Someone's having a laugh with that headline.

I'm still astounded that the 6 o'clock news didn't frame it as "the Christchurch Cathedral miracle".

  • Cracker: It's a Wonderful Thing,

That I think is one of the wonderful things about the TVNZ 7, that we get to make television for no other reason than because we think it will be good. No focus groups, ratings, sponsorship commitments and so forth. Which is not to say stuff on the other channels isn't good, there's just a lot more emphasis on mass-produced-proven-ratings-winning shows. - DC

Well done. Can't help thinking that, with good promo, it would have killed on ONe. (I know, it never would have happened).

Lush has proved - has he not? - that local/historical is a ratings winner. I hope an "encore screening" on ONe is being considered.

Unfortunately, this week it has been announced (although still no official press release that I can see) the Government won't be funding TVNZ 7 any more. Shitballs. So I guess that's probably the end of that. - DC

    Just gutted to hear that.

But, y'know, it ain't over till it's over. - RB

Keep us up to date with that, if you would, including what ordinary viewers can do to help reverse the decision.

    Hell of a week.

    Christchurch people,
We're all thinking about you. I've got to say, you can be really proud of your city. I've followed a lot of the TV coverage (and some radio) and have seen wall-to-wall courage, hard work, kindness, and practical application.

A close friend arrived back in Akl. yesterday (after a supposed day trip) with minor or moderate leg and foot injuries after the bench that she was sitting on at the time somehow landed on her (She's fine, thanks).

Special mention of Joe Pohio who was killed while helping an injured woman in the High St. Food Court. A medal, at least, please.

Best wishes to DH and family, and to all PAS people who are suffering.
