I'm looking forward to coming into the studios to watch this thingie you work on, live, in the holidays.

Might try join you, if that's Ok. Wednesday is designated sports day round here, so would have to get a special hall pass. Have been a few I would have loved to attend, but couldn't.

EAT: That was one of those replying to Jackie, while pointing at Russell, fails.

ETA2: Caught some of the Good Word debate on the New Zealand Novel over weekend. They do intelligence good, them lot, eh?

  • Muse: Shelf Life: The Dying Elephant in…, in reply to Sacha,

All that stuff is real interesting. Thanks. I would say 'paradigm shift', but someone might bonk me on the head with a hyperbole hammer.

  • Hard News: Getting dressed for the party, in reply to Christopher Dempsey,

Yes, he only barters with dentists.

    <coat>

ETA: Actually, that was a bit glib, as he has made a name for himself offering works for Cash, for Barter or some other form of 'payment in kind', as described here.

There's a vague, and small, photo here, and a description of the Cabbage Tree Swamp Road, also mentioned in above linked Central leader article. Have seen photo in Fridge, while consuming their extraordinarily good Moroccan Lamb pie. And I've mentioned the Lamingtons before, but they deserve a retweet.

There is some history to the name, but it does seem a little incongruous now, on a very dry piece of land leading into a hopefully dry Rugby stadium. Still, that's a small matter in the scheme of things.

Thanks for details about the funding. Did seem like a lot to spend on a thoroughfare.

I don't get over these things easily either, but we did cover the Waterfront...

    "Not Mene -- if any"

I'm annoyed I didn't go there first, but it is the logical next step.

IMO, the selection of cultural representatives is, on balance, quite disappointing.

Fair enough. I may have been a bit defensive. If you need to let go, I got no qualms about some on the list, I just felt that many seemed rather nicer than one could have implied from your earlier post. Not all, by any means, but mene.

Luckily, someone has thoughtfully leaked the application form:

Heh, that's a bit harsh. Some of the people on that list are really nice, and even worthy ambassadors, if we have to have them, which I'm not sure we do.

Still, you wanna call Ruben Wiki a wanker, then can I get tickets? Mind you he'd probably just laugh, pat you on the back, and offer you a water bottle. Because he is actually that nice of a person from what I gather.

Also, glad to hear your experience was a good one Russell, because I went to the now infamous league game at Eden Park and it was every bit as bad as people reported.

ETA: And if anyone says anything nasty about Carol Hirschfeld. Well, just don't.

Wairepo Swamp Walk? That's giving it airs and graces. Well, actually it really isn't. Did that come from the literally crap school of naming public places?

Oh, it actually came from the not so crap Kowhai School next door, and is a tautology to boot. Swamp swamp walk.

Cabbage. Tree. Swamp. It makes perfect sense, when you think about it.

ETA: Hadn't seen Rich of O's post. Snappish.
