  • Up Front: I Don't Think it Means What…,

When I was younger I used to drop the occassional "I'd buy that for a dollar'.

Robocop doesn't seem to have lasted the distance as much as I'd expected.

That tricky year zero. ALways gets me. ALthough I personally celebrated the turn of the millennium at the end of 2001 & I was wondering where the fireworks were.

Actually, my dear, [whispers] you're already in your 49th year and you'll be in your 50th year in a couple of weeks.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

Not delicate enough not to lend rope to a whacky, anti-woman, disgusting piece of slander involving a teen, and to keep coming back for more after it's been disproven fifteen times in the space of twenty-four hours (what happened to yesterday's photo, btw, the one taken -according to Russell - in 2003, except it wasn't?)

I think everyone's long decided that rumour had no basis in fact. You can let it go now Giovanni. I saw no slander on this site, just questions, many of which seem to have now been answered.

disputing what 'five months' means even though by any metric and pregnant-woman-speak variation

I'm 48 years old. And even though I'll be 49 in two weeks time, I'm in my 48th year & have been since last September.

At least that's what I think Jolissa is getting at.

everyone in NZ with get up and go has got up and gone

Maybe it's a reference to Stephen Franks' party membership.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

But seriously, he named them after the team or after the players?

The players from one particularly great season in his youth (probably in the mid 50s). Maybe it worked, at least one of his sons played for the All Whites.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

There are so many great nouns that should be names.

I think she totally wimped out not going with a theme for them all. Herbs are an obvious one, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary etc. Maybe a few of the (alleged) myraid Inuit names for snow?

A guy I know named all his kids after his favourite Arsenal team - even the girls!

  • Hard News: Awesome,

Without delving into the woman's past very much at all (one or two links fromthese threads) what really scares me about her is that she named her kids Bristol & Trig!

    What are the others called?

  • Island Life: Serving suggestion only,

The whole net migration thing puzzles me.

Remember the whole Brain Drain thing from a few years ago? Some kid bought a full page ad in the papers & had the names of loads of people who'd left NZ never to return... (apparently).

I was working with a woman at the time (in a high rise on Lambton Quay), who proudly told me she was one of ther names on that list (and she was indeed), she'd left NZ because she was so disgusted with the gummint.

I did point out that she appeared to have returned, but got no response. Never did really understand what that was all about.
