Danyl, just how many PA posts are required on any one subject?
David Farrar always asks me the same question when I have him up about ignoring news stories he finds uncomfortable.
And I note that the amount of comments covering Keys stupid but basically trivial offense is already larger than the entire discussion of the Benson-Pope-Setchell affair.

And ron, we've moved on from David, since he's gone.
FINALLY. I thought Public Address would NEVER tire of that subject </sarcasm>

Not that NZ is necessarily much better - I recall in the past few weeks a swathe of news stories about how the folks down Dunedin way had never seen snow before & didn't realise how slippery ice is.
News editors LOVE weather stories, since you don't need a brain to cover them. Put your sixteen year old platinum blond 'journalist' in a helicopter, get pictures of snow covered fields, kids playing and farmers moving stock and then come home again. And the snow (or rain, or wind) doesn't have any comms managers or lawyers so it can't complain to your boss, pull its advertising or threaten to sue. That's why most of the news in winter is devoted to 'it's snowing in the South Island!' or 'Wellington is experiencing high winds!'

Key's inability to take a policy position on anything is starting to cause that most fatal of political consequences - being taken as a joke.
You might be deep into 'nobody I know voted for Nixon' territory here. Key and his party are still wildly popular suggesting that their rather vague approach to policy is still a successful strategy.
I think what you really mean is that Key and his party are seen as a joke by people who are never ever going to vote for them anyway - probably not something their strategy advisers lose much sleep over.

Are any other bloggers finding this Gallery-blogging business creepy?
I'm loving the comments section of the stuff site as Colin encounters our blogospheres local wingnuts demanding he come clean about his role in the global warming hoax and accusing him of media bias for speaking to the Prime Minister. Not sure how long he's going to put up with it but its good stuff for now.

I love the unedited truth of Hone Harawira.
His statements about Howard would have been a little more powerful if the Maori Party didn't already have a proud tradition of throwing the racist charge around like confetti.

If one wanted to be hard-arsed, there are times when you come across as a real piece of work.
Sheesh guys - Craig's daily shtick is to play the old game of 'who are you to criticise Don Brash/George Bush/the Son of Sam when you have failed to speak out about Barack Obama's parking tickets/David Lange's weight problem/Genghis Khans invasion of Khwarezmid?'. Admitedly todays is dumber than usual, but I'm still surprised by the blowback.

I believe they're tax exiles in Switzerland.
