  • Hard News: The perils of political confidence, in reply to Sacha,

I can’t say frankly without thinking of the Smiths, or John Clarke who would as Fred Dagg say…to be perfectly Francis with you.
Most preface or exit statements I find on my part are onerous.

Immigration dept. does seem to be a basket case though, I’ve been thinking and talking a bit about the Dawn Raids (lived in Mangere at the time), part of the joy to trying to get an 18 year old engaged in political debate.
My mother used to teach English to newly arrived people on a volunteer basis, boat people among them, recent arrivals here are not well treated and the selection system seems very inconsistent.
    Now out of my depth.

Laughable, methinks the guy doth protest way too much,
“I just don’t accept the poll to be perfectly honest,” he said.
Rule 1. anyone who says to be perfectly honest never could be, can be or will be. It’s like frankly or absolutely, his writer will have to dig deep to ever position Key as one of us after smokedteapottape.
Also what’s with this new Keyspeak whereby he gets to say what he’s unhappy about and we are supposed to console him with a vote?
Harden up dude, you may not win, deal with it just as we will deal with it if you get in and start taking apart everything that’s worked pretty well to date barring offshore greed, oh and I note that RWC made us spend more on our cards, shot bro!

This is true. Clark was inventive and I seem to recall that Peters acquitted himself quite well in the role. This is democracy and Peters makes that very valid point,
"National's leadership has to understand that democratic government, particularly in these times, is not just some business deal for certain shareholders."
Under MMP no party had been able to govern alone because New Zealanders remembered the "dictatorship" under First Past the Post, he said.
Key was using "erratic reasoning" to blame NZ First for bringing down a government that hadn't even been elected.
"All we did was explain our position to voters. We will go into opposition and keep an eye on things."
It would support good ideas but vote against "dumb stuff" like the partial sale of state owned assets.
"NZ First will not give any political party a blank cheque to carve up New Zealand and sell it to their mates overseas," Peters said.
He said the prime minister was ''panicking'' because he wasn't seeing favourable poll results in the Epsom and Ohariu electorates, which are vital for the political survival of ACT and United Future."

Bazingo! And it is Key who is helping Winston's drum.

  • Hard News: The perils of political confidence, in reply to Steve Parks,

would you like to borrow another $7 billion (thought you had?)
build no new infrastructure (you haven't planned to)
and pretend we’re going to be a growth economy, (shall we?)
the Air New Zealand model operating in a few more companies’ (my fav, I thought the Govt. bailed them out with 850million?)
I think you’d get a different answer. (what was the question again)

    Ambiguous much?

  • Hard News: Criminalising Journalism,

I asked a very pointed question and Jacinda Ardern answered it very tactfully for me. I think Labour know well where they have fallen short, and frankly look at what they are up against, Mr teleprompter...I don't accept that proposition...Key.
The facts on the ground don't mean much when I meet people who are voting for Key because they think he is better looking even though they think Goff has better policies.
Oh and I haven't seen a Nat to talk to. I've only ever seen one once, Brash, when he was a Nat at a cultural festival. I've seen in person Banks, no presence, Hide, clownish, Helen, very present, Peters, funny, Lange, smart, Muldoon, creepy.
