How come we’re all so brilliant and all so broke? I have a couple of Toy Love singles I could chuck on your pile for Russell’s pie.
I am really hard up at the moment but I *can* offer a mint 1987 copy of tbp (the Spiral H&S) version, signed if you so want it- offers should start at $100 (they go in USA for 4 times that-)
this place is a space I truly enjoy: there are creatures that annoy, but they are not large contributors to the general ethos.

one of the reasons I now NEVER eat searun elvers is because it's totally wasteful:
yes, they are delicious BUT - that's an eel that's never going to breed & they are already under pressure as adults...whereas, almost nobody targets adult galaxiids-

Nobody EVER said to me – as a child or since- “Eat up your crusts or-” because I’ve always had this wild mop of curls (formerly brown with red highlights, now grey with silver highlights…but still curling on!) -
When Okarito had quite a few local kids, I was often approached by them to sponsor for the 40hr famine thing.
I always said: “No, but I have a lawn that needs mowing/ti-tree leaves to be picked
up and taken to the dump*/the veg garden needs weeding/whatever outside job
was around…I will pay you $5** an hour for good work & you can donate that money to your cause – or keep it, whatever you choose.”Only 3 kids*** took up the offer out of over 25 approaches. They did a good job and I didnt ask what they did with the money…but all 3 wanted some of the money to go to their cause-

*One skinny boy took 3 hours to shift and stack – properly- a truck load of firewood off my drive. It would’ve taken me nearly as long…he said proudly, “I’m going to give them $10 and keep the fiver…” He has done exceedingly well
over the past 20-odd years…and I signed his card, as I signed the other 2, equating the amount given with the amount they wanted paid- -

really, really wish more candidates would say concrete things like: “I am for the Brighton Aquatic Centre and the Coastal Pathway” or whatever. Instead of “I will be accountable and responsive”.
Likewise, if they say “I am involved with voluntary groups”, that could mean ANYTHING. (So tell us what they are!!)
Because self – and several family- have either a financial interest or properties in CHCH- I am just so disappointed in the candidates’ listings-
And – Lilith – the proposed Brighton Aquatic centre AND the Coastal Pathway – if a candidate agreed to vote for ’em- would draw 14 family votes…
