  • Hard News: An excellent evening in Newtown,

It's the Salon Kings adore. More romanticist.

  • Hard News: An excellent evening in Newtown, in reply to Russell Brown,

And now that we have accepted the official advice to never turn off the machine, the coffee is coming out quite beautifully.

Thanks again. Certainly makes a difference leaving machine on, but I've had to remember to clean it regularly, as the filters can get pretty clogged.

Wish I'd stuck around for the philosophy. I could sense the conversation was gonna get deep. Jackie and I could have talked art until the cows come home.

Surprised how many people I knew from former work and play in those gathered. Well, maybe not so surprised. It's a village out there really.

Seems there might be a PAS Salon in the offing. "Aut delectare aut prodesse est". Eat, drink and be merry, right? You and Fiona are great hosts.

Hmm, seems this might be best place to say thanks for last night. Wonderful evening, great people and food, and stimulating conversation and coffee. One of which kept my mind racing well into the night.

Speaking of atmosphere, here's the recording of New Order at BDO 2002 as described.
    Hope you find this Steve.

    Ka kite ano.

  • Hard News: What Now?,

Kiwibog and the Sub-Standard are now, and ever shall be, substantial net contributors to anthropogenic global stupidity.

There's a couch in the corner with your name on it. The plush lounger of sanctimony.

Anyhoo, I'm done. So long and thanks for all the fisks.

PS. Apologies for the me meme. Just felt like the right time for reasons that are entirely my own.

That was a bit harsh of me. I mean it looks like he may have very few regular readers at this stage. All power to him.

Umm, yeah, maybe I need to get out more in the blogosphere, but until you re-mentioned it, had never heard of him or his blog.

And nobody actually reads Steven Gray.

    Steven who?

Do not read the comments on Brian’s blog.

I did. Now I understand why in light of the comments there, I got off lightly. What the hell are they all drinking over there?

Haven’t you got a gnome to go to?

My gnome is definitely where my heart is.

They cost about $100 and many people (including those well aware of scientific method) swear by them.

    Bullshit.

Just wanted to be first, both in all seriousness, and for comic effect.

Now, should I wait for someone to prove me wrong?

ETA: Just not fast enough. Damn empiricists always come first.

    …not nothing.

I object. I’m very skeptical about nothing.

Apart from that, I agree with you. As unlikely as that might seem.

    This too.

No, it’s really not. In order to get funded to do most science you need to have influence, and people will go to significant extents to protect that influence.

    Better a no-man and a gnome?

I’m just not sure what you’re saying: that we should be kind to ideas that are demonstrably wrong and deceptive?

Still no. Just don't throw the baby out with the bath water, which I gather nobody is. So we can move on now, right?
