You don't actually have to love porn to find a woman universalising her own experience in order to erase other women's really fucking annoying.
Just so.
But... umm... try telling that to someone like Cactus Kate. Though the Queen of Thorns has an admirable takedown.

That's just bloody bizarre. For electorate MPs, obviously they are there because the local punters voted them in, but list MPs are MPs purely by way of a Party construct. If the Party changes the construct, it's completely illogical that the MP can remain.
What simon g said above, but also, you could argue that there is a serious problem if a party can't even keep the loyalty of its own MPs i.e. the group of of people the party thinks best represent its ideals.

It's damn cold here too, Sacha.

I get the feeling that the jury doesn't understand the distinction between reasonable doubt, and any doubt whatsoever.

word word word word
But next we will hear that "it was all a joke" or "she liked it" or "she was asking for it."
Victim blaming eh. So many ways to do it.

@ Emma:
I think recognising the original quote from the 'get on with it' sollioquy from Macbeth is LESS geeky
Oops! Crossed wires / intertextualities / somethings.
I meant that it was easy enough to get the quote from Macbeth, but that it takes a real geek to get the mis-quote, which turned out to be from Heinlein.
Confession: I have read that book. A very long time ago. I don't recall anything about it.

My thought too, Danielle. So you would have to be especially geeky to get where the misquote comes from.

Regarding gazes - many years ago my husband looked at a picture of Claudia Schiffer in the newspaper, and then turned to me and said, "You know, Claudia Schiffer is a very intelligent woman."
I would just like to say that Daniel Craig is a very intelligent man.
That's all.

Silenced depicts the grim reality for those who work and volunteer -- at abortion clinics. Made by an anonymous filmmaker, Silence was first screened at the Womens Medical Fund Spring Reception on May 21, 2009.

I understand that people who are against abortion feel very strongly about the issues involved. I get that they feel that medical procedures that are legal are nonetheless immoral, and that they would like the laws to be changed.
However, trying to accomplish a change in the availability of abortions by targeting health care providers with violence -- in other words, trying to change the situation by striking terror into the hearts of the people doing the things they do not like -- is terrorism. This kind of tactic is terrorism regardless of whether you agree with the end it is used to try to advance.
