But I think we've gone as far as we can go for now. It'll just be more bickering. Agreed?
C'mon Russ, Robbery is only just getting started here. By page 30 or 40 we'll really be starting to get somewhere.

Jimi, died at 28
Janis, died at 28
Jim, died at 28
Britney, 27 and the countdown's begun. The funniest thing about that shirt would be linking Britney's name to other 3. Bound to upset some serious old rockers, that would.

But anyone who uses the word 'gay' in my house better be referring to a homosexual, otherwise they're going to be asked to step outside. Not for a fight, just so I can shut the door when them on the other side.
Come come now Emma, that attitude's all a bit g.., ah, disregard.

Last night at the movie, I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that said 'My anger management course is really f***ing me off' (asterisks in original) which was sorta funny in a cringe-inducing way, if that makes any sense at all.
I can't imagine ever being offended by something written on a t-shirt, but I was a bit creeped out in the local slum-mall last year seeing a huge red-faced, grim mouthed munter in farming type gear and a t-shirt that said "If you knew what I was thinking, you wouldn't be smiling...".
He certainly didn't look like a bloke whose thoughts I needed to share.

If anyone's tragic enough to be reading about the BDO online, the Stuff blog is much, much better than the Herald one.
Apart from the young whippersnapper on the Stuff blog going on about Kool Keith "Whoever he is..."
Aaaargh!

Though having listened to 30 seconds of the Wire version... Elastica made it much better for me.
I always thought everything about Elastica apart from their musical influences was completely appalling. They sure could nick a good tune though.

Heh, I had this year's BDO down as a bit of a no-show but that's not a bad list you've got there at all.
1. Dr Octagon - Dr. Octagonecologyst is a stone cold classic of warped hiphop. 'I'm Dangerous' still gets regular airplay in our house. Not sure how he'll go in concert but Kool Keith is a rap legend and has the CV to prove it.
2. Lady Saw - Fabulous, rude as you like whine and grine from the scary Lady in charge.
3. Bjork - Potential to be fabulous, or disappear up it's own bum. I suspect she'll be good.
4. Arcade Fire - Completely agree, don't get it.
5. LCD Soundsystem - Yeh, the only one of the big names that really appealed to me. I like all the remix action they get involved in. Must've heard at least 5-6 different remixes of 'Daft Punk...'
6. The Clean - Should be great fun.
Have a great time you lot. I'll be working on staff appraisals so don't worry about me, there's nothing quite so exciting as staff appraisals...

The sad thing is that the great modernists all received classical training and a sense of proportion and detailling was ingrained into them. Even when they rejected the overt forms of classicism, the spirit was there. This... abode... is not even modernist in any sense, it's a postmodern mish-mash of symbols of columns, cornices and so on all reduced to crass, lumpen, banal caricature. Even Donald Trump could do better - or pay for people who could do better.
Yeh, what he said.

It looks to me like John Key's hat tip to wanting to have a nice time at the beach, and it looks like it would serve that purpose admirably.
Sure, hence my comment in the previous post. "if Key doesn't give a stuff and he likes the place, all power to him, he paid for it after all."
Doesn't make it purrty though.

And God, can people stop obsessing with Key's taste in houses and crabs. Talk about snobbishness.
C'mon, Don. We've gone from agreeing it's a bit crap to discussing Ionic volutes. It's PAS in action.
