  • Hard News: Stop the Enabling,

...surely it was good enough for her to tell [the] cop who gave Mason the initial warning what Mason told her.

Oh come on Dave... now your speculating.

Maybe she did. Maybe this is just the kind of circumstance - law change or not - whereby the police don't quickly lay charges. Maybe there were other reasons she didn't state what was told at the exact time... who knows? Whatever.

It is fair to say this isn't a case that actually relates, one way or other, to s59. People from either side may agree on that.

In as much as it has been related unnecessarily to s59, Mason did himself no favours.

  • Hard News: Stop the Enabling,

I would be curious to know if the reason for pleading not guilty was a "no, I didn't do what they say I do" plea, or a "what I did wasn't assault" plea.

Of course, it also could've just been a "this is a good way to get some media attention" plea as well.

I suspect it was a: "Oh fuck, if I keep saying it's nobody's business but mine if I face-punch my kids, I'm gonna get convicted fer sure" plea.

I think he was referring to Mason admitting the punch to the officer at the time, not his eventual plea.

Have you ever seen a pike? They're bloody enormous, and attack predators

So.... Gio can use them to deal with Catholics, then.

Damn I thought Gio was advocating GE to put their heads onto fish.

    Pike on a pike.

My first comment read as if I thought everybody should obey every law all the time no matter what.

Yes it did, but sorry I didn't realize your second comment was a clarification of what you actually meant. When I reread it now it's clear that's what you were doing. My mistake.

I disagreed with much of what Tess was writing, but don't think she was expressing bigotry and hatred in the slightest degree.

I would say she is expressing a degree of bigotry: many of us are saying to her that we accept her church should not have to marry gays if they don't want to, but outside of that church let gays marry in their own civil proceeding. That's a real "each to their own" approach. But that's not good enough for Tess; she still doesn't want gays to marry even though her church won't have to bless it or have anything to do with it. That's a kind of bigotry. (Though it does seem she's at the minor end of the spectrum - she seems somewhat less anti-gay than the Pope.)

I agree that saying she doesn't seem to be expressing hated, though.
