Oh and after thought, why were they having a cup of tea again?

Heh, and who drinks tea nowadays at a cafe anyway, unless it is tied to a media message, too much talk of tea bagging for my liking - all too clever. Oh yeah and did the Johnnies - you know - notice that there was erm a device, sitting right on their table, for you know, looking device-like...or something.

+1, they (the two Johnnies) can't have it both ways. And yes Rob, I agree, this is high farce.

It can be argued that it was not a private conversation , that it was in fact a very well signaled media event.
Bad for National? Only if they have something to hide, surely. -

Comparing a contrived photo op in a public setting a metre from an invited press posse with hacking of private phone conversations is masterful spin, breathlessly regurgitated by TVNZ and others.
I agree, we can only watch on and see what affect this has. Any publisher that does not publish is not acting in public interest, it was afterall a meeting by our PM to influence voters in an upcoming election was it not?

Ian, politely, you may want to let this one go, sewer rage is never pretty.

Yeah the Romans had some things right, water in, sewerage out. Oh and Maori, good water management principles. Personally I'd rather see clean seas than opera, and I like Opera.

The win at any cost approach reeks of sadness. Really, there is more to life, insert Shakespeare quote here.

The sniff test sadly is not real indicator, the best thing is to find out the state of the outflows after heavy rainfall. In Auckland this means that the water seems OK but is full of raw untreated sewerage after heavy rainfall due to the way that stormwater and sewerage are not separated after said heavy downpour events.
I surf and NZ is worse than France in this respect. France have the system that Christchurch should be putting in.
But they wont, Auckland is really bad also with no signs of improvement on the horizon.
