rogerd: yes, I have friends and colleagues in that position too---our group can run as it is (with two research fellows) for $250,000 p.a. very comfortably---but we have had funding stopped from October---put that against $10 million dollars "to keep the team together for four years" (Morning Report this morning)---what on earth do they do with the money?
Also, a friend of mine is representing New Zealand in Birmingham in the masters hockey team---she has to pay all her own costs---yes, air fare, lodgings, food...etc., as do all the team!!! And that team really is a national side---WTF?!?

I assume this will have some effect on the biomag effect---are they doing the research to tell us if it's good or bad, though???

Ricky Gervais (quite a name in itself!) was on Parkinson (from a few years ago but shown here recently) and was asked whether he wanted children. He said something like: "I'd be into adopting an 18 year old lawyer, but apart from that...nah!".

Well said, Russell. I was sitting there listening to the coverage on Morning Report thinking much the same---this has turned into a band-wagon for various people to hitch onto.
I was also wondering how the people pontificating around this issue felt about the child violence debate, which seemed to be the last forum for logorrhea we had to go through: all those mayors and people are telling parents how to interact with their kids---surely some of them thought that wrong when it came to violence against kids, so why is it so importnant that we do it on this issue, suddenly?

Or even better---get everyone playing such a game the moment they are born, so no one really goes to prison any more because no one has time to really break the real law, really.
