    And since we are a-videoing:

From Te Atatu's finest sons - quite grand in its understatement

From the 1980s but brand new, re-polished just this week:

But if you'd like to try somethingelse more credible - socialist vs. torturer & war criminal - is also relevent.

Why is that any different to the last comparison? We still have a baseless bit of ignorant name calling using a word that is only a slur if your narrow world defines it as such, whilst the second is a claim based on a fairly substantial body of legal opinion, albeit untested in court for reasons stated earlier.

I agree with you, claims of torture are more credible than what the Birthers et al have.

So why put the two next to each other as a point of direct like-on-like comparison and then spend the next page or two arguing that the war criminal claim has no credibility?

Surprised to see it still going - The Rev. Sun announced he was closing it some time back.

update: I see it was sold for a token $1 which given its circulation figures seems about right.

    Hilarious - he's still trying

Yes, I awake to this and I'm a little gob-smacked I have to admit.

I'm sticking with my fast hardening earlier notion that Angus may have missed most of the last decade or spent it in a cave with a volume of The Thoughts of Chairman O'Reilly as his only companion.

Glenn Greenwald writes at Salon today:

I'm guessing, given the timing, that Glenn must be a lurker at PAS.

Seems farfetched. I don't believe he would do such a thing.

So much more likely that his team looked for the evidence and found insufficient proof.

And you know this how, Angus?

Or is this just a wild guess which you can't support. Given that he seems to have come into the White House having pre-determined this would be his course of (non-) action, something which the timeline supports, and had no time to 'check the evidence' as you say, I'm calling nonsense on your 'belief'

The man had ulterior motives for not pursuing this, not least being a legislative agenda.

Eric Holder (and the Democrat run US Senate oversight comittees) have had unfettered access to all actual proof that exists. There has been no court hearing.

Perhaps you missed the fairly extensive discussions just after Obama was elected where the possibility that Bush might be prosecuted was the central topic. Obama decided that no good would come of it and decided to move on. It caused a great deal of dissent and upset amongst some of those who had worked towards Obama's election.

What's it like under that rock, Angus? Damp or dry?

Two unsubstantiable claims side by side.

Only if you've been living under a rock for the past 8 years.....

The south definitely sucked the most, no question. But the north hadn't entirely sorted itself out, either.

And of course the huge influx of black folks from the south to the north and to the aircraft factories of California (which didn't ratify the 15th Amendment until 1962!) in the 1940s threw everything before into a spin.

However for all that the lynchings were a particular feature of the south and the KKK had some, but rarely significant, traction in the North after the 1920s.
