  • Radiation: Back to the 80s,

Well, my favourite moment on the box last weekend was the masturbatory advice talk by the uncle to the youngest son on Weeds.

Frighteningly adventurous is all I'm going to say...

    Both.

But also Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia and Washington D.C.

Yeh, I was thinking of a Kim Basinger interview in Rolling Stone where she mentioned the possibility of arrest if she returned to her home state (either Alabama or Georgia) because she'd mentioned in an interview that in her younger days she'd blessed some unbelievably lucky young bloke with the said act.

  • Hard News: Copyright Amendment Bill latest,

You'll have to delete your digital copy if you part company with the original CD. The sunset clause is gone. And the committee wants the bill amended "to make it clearer that copyright owners always have the option of contracting out of all of the permitted acts.

Meh. May as well ban blowjobs like they did in the State of Georgia, or was it Alabama?

  • 180 Seconds with Craig Ranapia: A curse…,

...I've got to be fair and admit Jim Dale made a pretty good fist of the quarter hour of The Chamber of Secrets 'audiobook' (ugh!)

Stephen Fry got the Order of the Phoenix audiobook, poor bastard.

And, Peter, I have the highest opinion of "all that magical nonsense

Heh, I fully agree with you Craig on the Pullman and the Gene Wolfe threads. I read Wolfe's Torturer series what seems about 100 years ago and they're still probably my favourite fantasy series.

I also agree about Potter. I haven't read 7 but I think they're quite a good story, but terribly written from Book 5 onwards. I thought 3 was probably the best, the writing was on the wall by 4, and 5 & 6 are just travesties of non-editing. We read them to our kids and they are appalling to try to read aloud.

Here on PA Craig plays Voldemort...Every put down, he just comes back stronger.

He's more of a Vernon Dursley surely? Has nothing but the lowest opinion of all that magical nonsense.

  • Hard News: In the Music,

I do rate your internet and media commentary highly and I do take issue with your music commentary. I don't mean that personally or maliciously. I just don't agree with your opinion or how you see music.

    Care to elaborate?

Russell doesn't need me fighting his battles for him but you've mentioned this point several times about not agreeing with "your opinion or how you see music". What does that mean? From my experience of RB he likes a really wide range of music and generally writes about it in a positive way. He has a good overall knowledge of music and he writes better than most. He's hugely supportive of NZ music and this makes your ongoing barbs all the more perplexing.

So I'm interested to know what's chewing you up so badly? Or did you just take exception to one comment about whinging earlier in this thread and decide to spit the dummy?

  • Hard News: Brimful on the 45,

Wow, even with Claire gone, there seem to be so many people with July birthdays. Maybe we should just declare it a mid-Winter month of partying?

    Have a good one Russ!

  • Hard News: In the Music,

Weird, as in the giveaway itself - or that it's hard to imagine much of an overlap between his fanbase and the stereotypical Mail reader?

    More the latter.

It's a great concept, I look forward to Cannibal Corpse giving away their new album in the Financial Times.
