Something from a little closer to home: Together alone-Crowded House
Together alone
above and beneath
we were as close
as anyone can be
now you are gone
far away from me
as is once will always be
together aloneanei ra maua (here we are together)
e piri tahi nei (in a very close embrace)
e noha tahi nei (being together)
ko maua anake (just us alone)kei runga a Rangi (Rangi the sky-father is above)
ko papa Kai raro (the earth mother is below)
e mau tonu nei (our love for one another)
kia mau tonu ra (is everlasting)Together alone
shallow and deep
holding our breath
paying death no heed
I'm still your friend
when you are in need
as is once will always be
earth and sky
moon and sea -
Well said Sacha: "Today is for the departed". People sometimes respond to grief with ill considered words and actions. Engaging in spats and flaming and matters of "told you so" and "he's to blame" is simply a means to delay the inevitable acceptance and mourning of the loss together, responsibly and peacefully.

It'd be awesome! These guys could be so major.

For sure, but i'm still impressed, not the type of stance that'll win him any lunch buddies round the Beehive.

Also, I’m a bit pissy at the moment because Ai Weiwei has been paced under house arrest

As for the IP issue with China, you have to be blind Freddy not to realise that any investment into China is going to carry a huge risk that IP will be stolen. The counterfeit trade in China is huge and has been significant from the time that Deng opened China to foreign investment.
Sure, but we're not talking about counterfeits here, and as you said, you have to be blind Freddy:
The patent examination process is on a par with the Canadian or American one. But if you can deliberately make it less obvious as to what's behind your IP so much the better."
Despite the FTA hoopla, there's very little NZ small business owners can do to protect their investments in China and that while setting up the FTA this was clearly not a key focus, there is little recourse for the NZ small business owner or joint venture partner, and in this case the situation is aggravated by the fact that we see ex ministers, MPs and their family members cooperating not so much with the NZ business owner as those who would be ripping NZers off.

Why are a New Zealand MP and former PM cooperating with Yang rather than Preest?
why does anyone get conned? Yang is probably a very smooth talker.
No he's not. I posted his phone number on the other page, try him, he's a very nervous man with poor English who sounded entirely out of his depth. Despite this, both he and his assistant seemed a little too well informed about the plight of someone he 'conned' and should really have no motive to protect.
And Neil from the page you posted, and I quoted he; is with Jenny Shipley a major shareholder in New Zealand Natural and Pure, a company that is registered at Wong's electoral office. How much conning would that take?
All of them stained by the blood of hovercraft.

Logging in should now return you to the post box. :)
Thanks Tarlen, that's great.
Also, the system would have sped up considerably once the DNS records were updated around the country (24-72 hours after launch), as traffic is no longer going through San Francisco.
Actually I'm offshore....
Any thoughts about us contributing to the upkeep, Russell?
lol, it's the third time you've asked. Ever get the feeling your money's not good enough?

Personally I’m surprised more isn’t been made of this (from Neil’s original link)
To develop the product over the years the seven NZ shareholders have invested almost NZ$1m and expected the China manufacturing base to finally start bringing them a financial return.
PHNZ’s NZ and Chinese lawyers have written numerous letters asking Mr Yang to honour the agreement but with no response. PHNZ has now cancelled all agreements of cooperation, withdrawn the license to build and use loaned equipment, and demanded Mr Yang cease producing the NZ designed hovercraft.
Mr Yang’s company Lianyungang Supreme Hovercraft Ltd (www.hovercraft.cc) is still producing the hovercraft and has in fact taken further orders and Mr Yang and Mr Wong are still actively marketing the PHNZ copyrighted hovercraft in China. He even recently trademarked the name “Slider” for hovercraft in China to his company
I’m not so interested in Pansy Wong, travel perks and specifics of signatures on documents , but this kind of IP theft goes on all the time in the middle kingdom, and it pisses me off that post FTA there’s still very little New Zealanders can do to protect themselves when forming joint ventures here, If as it says Sammy Wong is actively promoting ripped off NZ IP, then there is a significant case to be answered. That Yang is the majority shareholder in New Zealand Pure and Natural Ltd alongside Jenny Shipley is similarly damning. Why are a New Zealand MP and former PM cooperating with Yang rather than Preest?
From Phil Lyth:.
Mr Preest claimed the Chinese company fired him without explanation, leaving him broke and devastated. He is suing Mr Yang through the Chinese courts for money he claims he is owed in royalties, parts and lost profits.
If the Chinese courts find in Yang’s favour, which there’s every chance they’ll do considering the widespread corruption, then what recourse is Preest left with and exactly how is this FTA and the NZ Government protecting New Zealanders’ business interests in these matters? How are they not compounding the situation by distracting focus from the biggest issue here?

yes the slowdown is likely due to the fact that we’ve moved the site from San Francisco to Auckland during the changeover.
Awfully polite you are. Nice. I'm not noticing it now, either it sped up or I slowed down. I like the login at the bottom of the thread, but chances are (I think someone mentioned this) if I'm logging in it's because I want to post, but after logging in I'm back at the top of the page and need to scroll to the bottom to input data.
