, there’s no way a straight up & down shop like Singo’s would commission anything with that kind of intent.

I do find it hard to believe that Williamson wrote that for Singleton's agency but then I find it hard to understand why Emenem would think it fine and dandy for "Team (wan)Key" to use "Lose Yourself" as their anthem.

It’s a shame people get stuck on that. Like Rogernomics ( although completely different ) really . Douglas and Prebble . They went on to become Act. But Labour wears the badge.

Perhaps Labour could play on that to the right wing.

Other right-leaning voters? Some could move to the Conservatives and some to NZ First, but for many it’s National or nothing, which may be why polls haven’t moved drastically.

In reality Labour aren't that far to the left of traditional National but the anti Labour/Greens rhetoric of the current government seems to have frightened left leaning National voters leaving them with little option but to return the corrupt version to the front benches. I can't help thinking this was a deliberate ploy but the ineptitude shown recently makes me doubt that.
If traditional Nat supporters would listen to Labours policies we might actually see some change in the polling, one would hope, on the day, that the Nats fan base will recognise that this government must go. Time for a clear out.

    I live in a bubble –

You really should get out more. ;-)
Australia is a stunning country that is, as Bill Bryson put it, “Fucking Huge”. You could spend several lifetimes and discover only a fraction.
Uluru (Ayers Rock for rockheads) has an aura that evokes feelings you will never recognise as your own and that’s just a pebble in the middle.

Singo, as he’s affectionately known, and the likes of Alan Jones are the most unappealing face of Australian intolerance

I beg to differ, there are far worse in the common populace, especially in Queensland and points north. I really should stop right here as, I am sure many will tell me, there are good people too. Stereotypical tar brushing will always lead to generalisation and in doing so will offend many, so....

    Twain Peaks?

Indeed. The quote I was building from was...
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."
Or "It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt."
Attributed to both Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln, the fact of the matter is that both quotes are corruptions of a Biblical passage...
"Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding." Proverbs 17:28.

The only memorable quote I recall from Don Brash is "Gone by lunchtime"
    Oh the Irony... it burns...

I wouldn’t wish that blokily homoerotic dirge on anyone.

Much as I find Australia, as a society, relatively repugnant*, I actually quite like that song. It is about “Mateship” the whole “standing by your mate” thing doesn’t strike me as homoerotic, some of my best mates are women and I value friendship above all else and I do like a good singalong. ;-)

    * Mainly for the inherent racism, it’s bad enough when you treat the indigenous people worse than animals but to compound that with the White Australia policy should make one ashamed to be called an Australian.

specifically written as hold music for the odious John Singleton’s ad agency.

Wonderful, if true. A man of Talent 2
Having done some quick reading up on the guy I think he is one of the lesser odious, a sub group of the same species that includes the Murdoch.
