  • Speaker: TPPA: It's Extreme,

    That link’s broken Chris.

    www.stuff.co.nz/72688061/grosser-fucks-new-zealand

    There. I fixed it.

You'll have to cut and paste that one because the PAS system screws it up. Sort of like the Nats have just done to the country.

  • Hard News: About Chris Brown,

As this affair descends slowly into farce, pseudo-bishop Brian Tamaki naturally supports Brown’s visit. Maori performer Mika agrees and sees this primarily as a race issue.

Let’s face it, if he wasn’t black he probably would have been let in because there’s been a lot of white people – celebrities – who have been let into New Zealand in the last few years with crimes a lot worse than this. Chris Brown, we want you to come to New Zealand.

    Doh!

  • Legal Beagle: Crowdsourcing Project Cortex,

Vodafone possibly uses Cortex – section 3 of their Privacy policy.

    3. Sharing your information
There may be times when we need to disclose your personal information to third parties (some of which may be based outside of New Zealand). If we do this, we will only disclose your information to:

Much of this section contains some pretty broad strokes and Cortex could almost be covered by the general “suppliers” clause.

    3.2 those who provide to us or our group companies products or services that support the services that we provide, such as our dealers and suppliers;

But 3.9 is probably the relevant section.

    3.9 anyone who assists us in protecting the operation of the Vodafone networks and systems, including the use of monitoring and detection in order to identify potential threats, such as hacking and virus dissemination and other security vulnerabilities;

Do I win a kewpie doll or something?

  • Hard News: About Chris Brown, in reply to Sue,

    Why are they doing this?
    Why?

The only logical explanation is that they're naive and have been convinced by a silver-tongued promoter that it's actually a race issue.

And not a single one of them bothered to do their homework before issuing a public statement. Not one. Shame on them all.

  • Hard News: A cog in the Mediaworks machine,

The Herald is spinning the ratings the other way announcing that Hosking beats Henry. Not literally, unfortunately.

New figures show more than 255,000 Kiwis (aged 10+) tune into Mike Hosking on ZB, while 107,800 listen to Paul Henry on Radio Live.

I'm guessing they're the weekly figures.

  • Hard News: A cog in the Mediaworks machine,

Each week 178,000 different people listen to Newstalk ZB.

Forgive me for being naive, but if that’s the weekly audience the total daily reach for the station over 24 hours must be around 25,000, give or take. That seems surprisingly unimpressive to me.

A quick Google search shows the sample size to be 3,000-3,286.

  • Envirologue: Fool me Once: Lessons on…,

I'm not so sure. Tracey Watkins is running the same Clark backs Key angle, including this quote from Andrew Little.

She's the former Prime Minister for nine years, so she's not going to lose interest in what happens in New Zealand - it's her home country.

Provided that the quotes weren't taken out of context, it strikes me that Helen Clark seems to have no idea of what's going on in NZ and has accidentally shot Little in the foot. That's sad.

Excuse me, but did Helen Clark really back John Key over the TPPA after meeting with him in New York today? Or am I missing something?

Scout’s latest celebrity, featuring in their TV trailers? Julie Christie. Yep.

I noticed that too while cueing up 3News on Sky. How incestuous can they get? And what's next... sifting through Mark Wheldon's underwear drawer? FFS.

  • Hard News: About Campbell Live,

Story isn't working out as well as TV3 had hoped. According to Throng it's viewed by fewer people than watched Campbell Live on a bad day.

In September 2014 Campbell Live ratings had shot up from an average of 199,000 to a respectable 241,000. When the CL "review" was announced, that live audience figure surged to 484,000 with a further 32,000 on TV3+1 -- over half a million viewers in total. Take a bow John Campbell.

Story started off O'K reaching 276,000 on it's first night, but since then numbers have dwindled with an average nightly audience of just under 190,000 viewers.

Meanwhile Paul Henry is languishing in the mornings with a mere 15,000-28,000 viewers -- roughly half the audience of the Breakfast show which TVNZ plans to replace that the end of the year with some "international lifestyle content". Good morning... please leave your brain at the door.

Is it possible that John Key was wrong? Viewers don't seem to be craving that non-stop diet of fluffy crap and "entertainment" which Mediaworks insists on serving at every meal.
