    That’s a serious undertone
    you’ve got going on there….

…. An undertone of Irish family dissent…

Are you in Spreydon Heathcote? Yeah, it will be interesting — what’s your feel?

    Snap.
I reckon the council seats are wide-open in this ward. Four possibles, but the vote could be heinously split. As always getting people to vote will be difficult for anything other than the Mayor, where they have strong views.

As to other wards, some have changed dramatically: Burwood/Pegasus and Hagley/Ferrymead. Others have lightning rod-candidates for discontent (Shirley --Button and Keown). I would be very worried were I Helen Broughton in Riccarton-Wigram -- Vicki Buck will romp in, leaving Broughton and Jimmy Chen to slug it out.

Just found a fucking beauty of a piece about Noeline Allan on page 3 of the Bay Harbour News August 21 issue. Unbelievable.

Can’t say I’m impressed with Jackson’s soft-Tory politics either, to be totally honest.

She is yet t convince me, as one of the core voting demographic round here. I can’t call this ward, and usually I can pick who will win the council seats.

If you’re not Labour, you’ll have different goals and aims for your politicians

Keir, that's nailed my hitherto lack of understanding of Labour, which is steeped in tradition and customary practice I do not comprehend. (Not that I think it's wrong; it's that I cannot understand the thinking.) Maybe I'm not the only voter in New Zealand like that.

Yes , I'm one of the commenting Greens, but then PAS isn't a Labour Party noticeboard. We're all allowed to talk. Doesn't mean Labour leadership voters have to take notice.

PS: Thanks for the back-up on Erin Jackson and the Arts Centre survey!

All PR or “spin” doctors always aspired to be an Editor. They failed.

Piffle: count two against in my house. I loved being a journalist, a daily working one. The clatter of thirty Imperial 66s reaching a deafening crescendo at 5.30pm was one of the best jobs of my life. Further up the chain is no fun at all.

These are the relationships that are formed and all done openly. I don’t see anything wrong here in Hendo supporting an employee in his Council aspirations. Johnny didn’t stand while his Dad was in Council, he didn’t get in and hasn’t stood again. That’s Democracy at work

    +1

Jeez Joe and Gudrun. As long-time friends and former contract strategists for Garry Moore we don't see and -- have never seen since his first mayoral bid in 1998 -- the nespotism and bent dealings you allege.

It's getting near defamatory, and it's certainly mean-spirited. I had thought better of you both.

Why should anyone not stand for elected council positions because their relative is in the game? Hendo gave him $1200 for his campaign: declared and receipted.

Johnny Moore writes a Press column yes -- despite his father's fractious relationship with the newspaper in his last term. Where's the nespotism? Are you saying his thoughts are not his own but Garry's in drag? Get real, Johnny's an ornery grown-up who hides behind no-one.

The venom behind your postings is horrid: this family has been hammered by the earthquakes: in business, health, homes and financial ways that they will never make public because they don't want sympathy. They want to be able to get on with reconstructing their lives, like everyone else in the city.

What is the point of posting and reposting (on both of our Facebook pages and here) innuendo-laden bullshit from one blogger that can only wound?

Knowing nothing of Steven Cowan and his blog, we assume that a Moore or two likely pissed him off. Garry was not easy to deal with in his last term, and that's said by two who were sent to the lake of fire regularly.

That's all we've got to say on this one: we're not interested in a bizarre and pointless bag-lady scrap. We're just really pissed off and need to rebut the gratuitous and un-PAS-spirit postings.
