Now, thanks to the Hollow Men, National has to issue a disclaimer every time somebody emails them about their huge 3rd party campaign.
The battle of ideas - or something like that.
Something I read recently in a book was to do with the rhetoric (old school sense) of politics. Mainly about the emphasis on emotion rather than argument currently - and a good part of that hinges on who you are or who you portray yourself to be.
Writing that it suddenly struck me (heaven knows where I was going with it before) that if you forced everyone to be anonymous you might improve the quality of the discourse. No?

I wouldn't think they're spending $12 000. But yes, the point at issue whether they need announce who they are.

Does this resonate with others on both sides of digital divide?
I did have much the same experience going the other way (to PCs at work). Why is the type all blocky and distorted? Why must I see the pixels?
It it just my hazy memory or is Ubuntu somewhere into the middle? Are there options?
@ Hansel: operating systems as art?In the cultural sense I also associate Avant-Gardism with a certain amount of enthusiastic sloppiness (at least as the mainstream would see it). Not so good for OSes.
I think I see what you mean, though. Me, while I'm happy, say, making food from scratch, I'll only go so far under the bonnet of a computer.

Speaking of the tiny and violent, I just powered up the demo version of the original, teeny-pixel graphic Worms last night. It didn't play very well in OSX's classic thingy, but it's still better than any of the other versions.
