As a news junkie I’m definitely spending less time on Stuff nowadays, and more time on international news sites.
I'm the same but the single thing I want most from local news sites is local news so have to grin and deal with it all, as depressing as that is
Today on/in the herald: "Man stumbles across shark in surf". I dare not click on it for fear I shall learn that water is where sharks live or something equally profound

every day it feels like the race to the bottom of content worth reading via our two leading news sites finds ever lower tiers of nothingness some metrics suggests we'll read
on the plus side I now know how to eat chocolate correctly and possibly utilise chop sticks in the internet approved manner
personally I miss the days of seemingly endless hate stories directed at social media by the now (or soon to be) retired senior staffers

They don't fear Labour's popularity, rather they can divide and depress labour or potential labour voters over the parties lacklustre TPPA stance (coupled with Waitangi) is my reckoning
whereas Education is all but gone from the current media discourse, for now at least

don't think its education national are worried about in polling - TPPA has dwarfed any policy announcements by labour - also a topic labour are vulnerable on, as they've hardly been consistent about the damned thing

National are better players on defence and offence than Labour, they control a much better PR and marketing machine than Labour and if the extreme left card is the one they are playing now don't be surprised if it stays in play right up until the next election - file alongside the Green Taliban and hippy card they will never take off the table
labels of extreme this or that are but tools employed to control the discussion... please don't get caught up in justifying left and right cause you're all bunched in the centre (much to my dismay)

I’d love it if some of the great dudes here could organise a strategy between yourselves for some non-violent support for women at the next gig you go to.
I keep thinking about what you say here Lilith and the many other woman voicing their views here, on twitter and facebook.
We had a long discussion at the dinner table about this discussion, the types of behavior and how its always been around - two gig going oldies and two young teenage boys, one of whom has started attending some bigger shows (with parent(s)). The boys I expect to both be regulars at shows as they grow, they will be given all the guidance to not be "that guy", I hope they both have the strength of character and empathy to not be.
To a degree I am still in denial, partly age and partly my gender. I know this sort of thing happens to woman far too often, I still can't comprehend just how common it is though as that just boggles my brain - not disputing that it is so, just can't comprehend that so many of us men are just so fucking horrid to woman and that it seems to be getting worse not better.
Other than talking to the youngsters I can and vowing to step in I still don't have a strategy but I do know I can't leave it to others to do the right thing.

the crowd was different this year, I thought it quite "normal" - as in not so musically focused as previous years
I didn't see any but if there are groups of dudebros - everyone in proximity is potentially under threat, refer to the problems they've been having in Australia at some of the dance festivals in particular. Calling out a dudebro when in a pack is not a wise thing to do
