  • Hard News: Geeky Thursday again,

<quote>Seriously though, currently I can use my ipod (almost) blind. won't a touch screen screw that up?</ quote>
Plus I have discovered to my horror, dumbbells and mp3 screens don't mix. They are just going to be a bigger target.

  • Southerly: In Praise of Arthur,

Hmmm, must be a generation thing. I have only every been to hairdressers and usually female ones.
To me the shampooing and cutting is an intimate act. The sort that I would only wish a female to do.
For some reason it's just not the same when a male hairdresser leans over you to shampoo your hair. lol

if you find a good hairdresser/barber stick with them.

Too true. But that is many because I hate that little interview you get with a new hair dress and what your were expecting is a mile away from what you get.
I haven't even had the some doctor for as long as I have had my hairdresser. She doesn't need to ask how I want it, non waste her time trying to start a conversation and she is kinda cute. Though she does always point out new grey hairs.

  • Radiation: Back to the 80s,

    Grrr, try that again.

Well, my favourite moment on the box last weekend was the masturbatory advice talk by the uncle to the youngest son on Weeds.

Classic, though it has kinda put me off bananas.

  • Radiation: Sensational,

I was talking to some sort of amorphous anti-reality-TV 'They' in my mind.

You mean I'm just a figment of your imagination? lol

They do inspire me to go out more, so they are not all bad. lol

  • Hard News: What's on David Bain's iPod?,

It really is about time Canterbury formed its own break-away republic.

What? And narrow our talent pool. lol

Re non DRM mp3s on iTunes.
Does this mean I will be able to download songs from iTunes and play them on my Creative Zen mp3 player?
    Finally!

  • Hard News: He even has his Baldrick,

Is that figure still 80%? will it be in 6 months? will be interesting

Will probably go the way of the prostitution reform and Civil Union bills. Eg eveyone forgets about them and moves on to the next slight on "family" values.

I have mixed feelings about just how bad Christchurch is.
I grow up in Ashburton and moved to Christchurch to go to Uni.
When I came here, I felt that Christchurch was much more open, liberal and sophisticated. I felt safe going out and never thought about violence. Every time I went back to Ashburton, there was always someone I know getting into a fight or just getting thumped.
Nearly got thumped a few times myself, simply because someone just didn't like the look of me.
However the only time I have ever been attacked was in Christchurch, and it was by rugbyhead suburban white boys. I found out later from someone they know that they were looking to smack someone over.
In fact my experiences with violence is that it's nearly always suburban white boys or bogans.
I got dragged to a hip hop bar one night. Once I got over the oddity of being one of the only white boys in there, I noticed that the guys were friendly and more easy going than I was use too.
(the women were just as bad though. lol)

I was told many times not to walk through Hagley Park at night.

So of course I did it. And the only people I ran into, two large trenchcoated suspicious-looking individuals, turned out to be good friends.

I use to live on Fendalton Rd a couple of years ago and would often cut across north hagley park on the way home, through the soccer fields, passed the toliets and through the golf course, by myself.
Only when I was drunk and feeling immortal of course. Wouldn't run into anyone and the only danger was tripping in the dark (especially around the golf course).
That was until one night. It was a week night and I was coming home earlier than usual. There seemed to be quite a few people around the trees along Rolleston Ave between the two bridges.
I gave them a wide berth and carried on, but one of them followed me through the park. He was about 30m away. So I walked a bit faster, getting ready to hoof it.
But after 50m or so he disappeared. It scared the crap out of me, so I never walked through there again.
A few weeks later I was reading an article in the paper and realised that I had walked through the middle of a gay cruising site. The guy I thought was going to bash me over the head, was probably just going to offer me head. lol
