It was a live cat bounce though, which is probably something sharemarkets haven't experienced yet.

@Mark Harris (why are we using Twitterese here?)
Yes, it'll hurt retailers and artists who wil then,l I hope, join in and make the message even louder and clearer to the media conglomerates and various elected representatives. Why limit the collateral damage to ISPs and their customers in the Copyright Wars?
Another way of looking at is it to roll back the power of faceless media companies: if we can afford to spend billions and trillions on bailing out greedy banks, we can damn well spend a few millions on funding artists to make sensibly copyrighted material for us to enjoy.

Actually, looking at the XKCD cartoon... we should probably boycott purchased music for safety's sake, so as not to become criminals due to arbitrary "permitted usage" changes.

Has it occurred to people that reasoning isn't working in the Great Copyright Debate?
Submissions, pointing out fallacies, inconsistencies and that the copyright act effectively gives judiciary powers to private entities are by and large ignored together with common sense.
Why then be pussies and continue trying to reason with the unreasonable? That strategy has been shown not to work.
Isn't it time for militancy on the issue? If Tizard wants to criminalise her electorate then they should not vote for her. That's the same as handing the organisations Tizard is seeking to empower with a cricket bat that they then can procede to beat you to a pulp with.
Likewise, if the music and movie industries want to hurt us, let's hurt them back. Organised one-day boycotts of purchased and rented music, DVDs and cinema films would sting.
Sure, music and films are some of life's great pleasures, but they're not necessary. We're not hooked on them like smack or meth addicts. We can do without them, for as long as it takes.
Trust me, there's no other way those in power and faceless media corporations will hear you.

With a glass of wine costing $11 to $15 or more, and beer not much cheaper, sobriety is a necessary option. It does make other people seem quite weird though.

We (Damon, Nick and me, AKA Xerxes Ltd) wrote the first graphical installer for ICONZ, complete with Netscape 0.99, Windows Trumpet PPP dialer etc.
So you, Damon and Nick were responsible for that pair of floppies. I remember sitting in a serviced apartment after arriving in Auckland, wondering if the eye-wateringly high cost of Internet access via ICONZ was a misprint or not.
Decided it wasn't, and didn't stick the floppies into my laptop. Was wondering instead if I did the right thing by leaving Singapore where I had 128k ISDN for a fraction of the price the dial-up access here would cost me.
