  • Hard News: Friday Music: Big Day Out, Out, in reply to Ian Dalziel,

    Vodafone sucks big time!
Did I mention just how crap Vodafone is?

Did I tell you the story of how Sofie and I were imprisoned by Sky TV?
True, tried to return equipment that they wanted to charge $25 for collecting after we cancelled. Took said equipment back to their shop in Mt Wellington, which apparently closes at 12 on Saturdays so we took it round the corner to their offices, bloke at desk refused to take it and said if I left it he would put it in the skip and we would be charged for not returning it.
So, I put it, with a covering letter, in the inbox. When we got to the main gate it was shut tight, I called on the intercom to get it opened and was told we were not allowed out until we picked up THEIR equipment and took it away.
Luckily a Sky employee wanted to get in so he used his entry pass and as the gate opened we made our break for freedom, yeeee haaaa!!!
Best of luck Ian, I fear you are dealing with the same people.

Oh yeah, Big Day Out. Went there once on acid, it was weird.

  • Hard News: The Letter,

I must say the TradeMe Q+A for the Xion Qui tome is, possibly, more informative than the Herald when it comes to the public's perception of our PM. I was tempted to ask if the book was signed by a Helen Clark but the poor chap selling it seems to have been up all night answering questions.
    Good on him eh?.

it’s interesting that she points the finger at National.

I think she has finally been embarrassed enough to think about her credibility, you can only go down so far before your career is irretrievable. It is one thing towing the company line for the sake of your job but for a journalist that can be a one way ticket to oblivion.
I particularly liked the comment that “Thoughtful” people are questioning the veracity of the story as told, “wondering whether it was indeed Labour that had proven tricky — as National’s meme invites us to believe — or the governing party.”.
She could have added "with the help of this piece of tabloid trash I find myself whoring for" but small steps eh?.

  • Hard News: The Letter, in reply to Joe Wylie,

Personally I’m glad that no-one’s managed to convince him that the Party’s fucked.

This reminds me of the last time I spoke to Helen Clark. I said the polls were so wrong and judging by what l could see, Labour should have been polling around 38%, this was 2008, she agreed but then said "trouble is, many people not only believe the polls, they tend to follow them"
"like sheep" I said. She gave me one of her withering looks which turned into a look of sad resignation, it was over, the wunch of bankers were at the gate...

Just encourage your friends, relations, hamsters, workmates, whoever, to vote labour or greens or internet/mana or even winston first, whichever suits them best. Just show them how National will fuck them over. I know that will only work for 99% of people but, hey, lets be greedy eh?

I do love it when someone puts up a good fight.

Back of the bike sheds, 4 o'clock, or the hamster gets it....

Labour’s trouble is much deeper than any lack of talent. I think it’s just an old, worn out idea.

You might have to expand on that one a bit.

That is so sad and so wrong.
Labour has always been about those that do the work that makes it possible for the capitalists to succeed. Whether it be the toilet cleaners that tidy up after the Prime Ministers excesses or the engineers that maintain the fleet of airplanes that serve the airline we used to own.
    We should reflect on this.
I am not against the Greens, in fact I believe we need more attention to be paid to the fact that capitalism is, and has always, has been destroying the only planet we have and the Greens are our conduit for doing just that, saving our only planet. We need the Greens and the Greens need Labour.
Labour has run alone in the past and won, times have changed and so have the rules. We are now faced with a system that, in some ways is more representative but at the same time more complex, many voters are confused by that, we need coherence.
The undecided voter is in no way enamored by bickering, they will just go with the flow and let their lives be governed by those that have the power, believing that is the best option, especially as John Key has his picture in all the best bookstores in time for an early Christmas (personally I look forward to seeing his tiny tome pop up in the $2 bin at the Warehouse after Election Day) doing what they think is right.
WE need to be staunch, we stand together, Red and Green' we have the power if we stick together, we shall overcome, Key must be gone. We do not need this wunch of bankers.

  • Hard News: The Letter,

I do hope we don't have the problem we had at the last election, Green supporters attacking Labour over imagined sleights. Not only was it petty it helped National win by giving the impression that the left were squabbling brats.
Can we have a little more maturity this time, there is too much at stake for this kind of non productive behavior.
