I love how the podcast adds depth to the original book.

What does the room say to this one (idea related by someone who'd seen it on the telly)...

Hit all that consumer spending by hitting all that ludicrous credit - lower the bankruptcy threshold.

Apparently Gordon Copeland has only just realised what Annette King has been saying about him and put out a press release denying it.

"I did agree to consider such a proposal - in fact I made such a proposal to Annette King - but in the end made a firm decision against it," said Mr Copeland.

    Also:

"There was a simple way out of this mess and that would have been for Annette King to take the new proposal on a national road show and explain it to the tens of thousands of New Zealanders who, like me, had expressed their opposition."

    Huh?

Now might be a good time for Denis Dutton and his chums to emerge to explain again how if global warming is happening (and of course it isn't, you know) it's all good anyway.

As far as the Climate <giggle>Science</giggle> Coalition goes they have had a habit of, on a morning where some significant research or decision will be announced in the afternoon, putting out a release loudly complaining about something entirely different. That said, the last one they were welcoming NIWAs plans to make the databases public.

As far as Dunedin, the media and show goes, it apparently always used to be the case that, if there was perhaps a dusting down to sea level, the tv would troop out to Wakari, where the local microclimate would see inches of the stuff falling.

Don't believe anyone who says to keep your Antigone in the dark. I tried that and the poor thing expired before I'd finished shutting the door.

I tried for years to grow Medeas at home but they don't produce viable offspring.

I like to follow my Agamemnon with sliced Cassandra.

Fans of the great old ones may likely already have found this, but here's a link anyhow.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the comment about Copeland's proxy. No, you can't have your vote. Not yours.

  • Hard News: Can somebody hook a brother…,

Around Bowling for Columbine someone reported a conversation with some American friends. The gist was that Moore's simplifications, inappropriate statistics and whatever else should been seen in the context of US poltical commentary, where the right has any number of crazies who just lie for a living.
