To get back to politics and whether or not Labour are a shambles or not, I note that Gerry Brownlee is: " "unwilling" to release information relating to Canterbury land decisions – including Cabinet papers – before the general election." ".
It seems to me that this is exactly the sort of stick that Labour could effectively use to give Brownlee et al a damn good thrashing, and score a few much-needed points with. "Why won't you tell us, Mr Brownlee? Don't the good folk of Canterbury deserve to know?"
However, I think it says a lot that I will be surprised if they do. And that effectively feeds into the 'fit to govern'/couldn't organise the proverbial meme.

Where would that support come from?
For the purposes of discussion, I would suggest an answer as:
1) Traditional* Labour supporters who'll be staying at home this time around.
2) Traditional* Labour supporters who'll vote Green this time around.
*whatever this may actually mean. Please don't make me sleep with Chris Trotter.
ETA: I have no idea how the numbers in either of those groups stack up.

So you mean you don't loathe National?
I've mellowed considerably in my old age. Like a vint...aged cheese.
Satan will be riding a yellow dog to work through the snow before I vote for them, but no visceral loathing any more. Besides which, the National Party here are a different beast to the vile tories of my UK youth.
Having said that, I find the proposed Great Family Silver Sell-off just incredible. How can an idea that bad have got this far?
