  • Hard News: Staying Alive, in reply to bob daktari,

Roads are designed for vehicles and vehicles are designed for roads. There is simply no way that vehicles can be removed from inner city roads, nor should they be, not without investing tens of billions in transport alternatives. I doubt many people would stand for goods and services being delayed or restricted due to supply and delivery problems. Perhaps if cyclists were to contribute some form of license fee, and this revenue were to be channeled directly towards the creation of dedicated cycleways, the problems could be alleviated.

  • Hard News: We interrupt this broadcast ..., in reply to Hayden East,

Nationals entire campaign will be based on Keys personality, because they have nothing to lose, based on that, and nothing to gain by focussing on their other MPs. Bill english anyone? Key is key. And by a comfortable margin to boot. I despair of the fact that the average voter is, well, average, and tied to a personality based decision. Thusly, Labour are screwed. We stand to gain by slinging our votes in the direction of Green...

  • Hard News: London's Burning, in reply to Tom Semmens,

ANd the politicians continue to live high on the hog whilst slashing healthcare and education budgets. Look at all the money spunked on the royal wedding. All the multi-million dollar cruise missiles lobbed at Tripoli. The UK has got it's fiscal priorities seriously skewed. That goes for most of Western Society I think. I get feelings of anger and alienation when the prats we have running the joint here cut spending, but won't vote themselves a pay cut.

  • Hard News: The Political Lie, in reply to Lilith __,

Yes, we do pay them to stand up and answer the freaking question. And yet, when they refuse to answer the question, often we just move on. I would very much like to see an interviewer persist with the requirement for a 'yes' or 'no' answer. Guyon could have, and should have spent as much time as was necessary getting a 'yes' or 'no' from Phil Goff on Sunday. Instead we got 'what I'm saying... what I'm saying...', it reminded my of the Pooze Man ad on bfm. And yep, he was full of shit. These buggers should be held to account until we get a straight answer.

  • Hard News: The Public Address Word of…,

The problem is, I'm struggling to remember events and phrases from the beginning of the year. 'Bailout' should be up there though. "In time for the world cup" was still being chucked about until recently. Folk tend to nominate/vote for events of recent relevance. It's a bit like all those 'top albums of the last 50 years' polls. (Speaking of folk, Obama has busted that one out a fair bit of late).

  • OnPoint: Did you know we're in a recession?,

Our mainstream media is becoming a disgrace. Why are these lying twats not being held to account for their misinformation and spin? English spouts lies, smirks while he's doing it, and does so with impunity.
Too much "thank you for your time, we really appreciate it" and not enough "would you care to explain why your comments are totally inaccurate and misleading"!

  • Hard News: Dropping the Ball,

While not a generalisation of rugby/sports fans, I can assure you that, yes, a large venue at the bottom of the Auckland CBD showing sports on large screens, with beer, is exactly the sort of place that will generate a fair percentage of pissed up yobs. You may, perhaps, be slightly more cultured in Wellington. I can assure you sir, that while most people may be relatively well behaved in such a location as our newly spruced mooring, our culture of binge swilling will result in clumps of idiots behaving badly. Shit, you just have to stroll up Queen Street of a Friday eve to realise to truth of this!!!

  • Hard News: Dropping the Ball,

Ahh yess, I just can't wait to share the grand marquee with a pack of beer-swilling pissed-up yobs. What a 'party central' indeed!
