Checking that Le Post article, Hadyn, I saw they picked up on something you didn't, namely: "...New Zealand dominates a key stat: balloons recovered after plating."
If I believe a Google translation of a French paper's analysis of a post written by you, then as we train for such bizarre occurences on a rugby field, rather than boring things like scrums and tackling and such like, is it any wonder we lose? I can only hope Graham Henry has learnt something in the last four years.

Cheers Ben. But yes, it is an extremely photogenic sport. Possibly the most photogenic sport: it's hard to not get a good shot. This time round I actually managed to capture a few falls, which I don't think I really managed last year. The teams battled harder this year? At least, that's the way it seemed to me looking through the lens.
And I couldn't believe that crowd, especially when Hadyn announced to the masses inside at 7.30pm that there would be a delay in starting because there were still 800 people queued outside. Awesome.

So much more. No, unfortunately I didn't get to use my ninja equipment. Still looking for a reason to use my suction cups. The TSB Bank Arena has a large number of catwalks just below the roof to enable the light riggers up there. Fantastic place to photograph from, but not for those with vertigo. I was probably more nervous about keeping a grip on the camera gear - and of course, to paraphrase Princess Leia: the tighter you grip, the more the cameras will slip through your increasingly sweaty fingers. A camera dropped from 15-20m does no one any good.

Thanks for the comments guys. And good article Hadyn: one of the big downers about concentrating on the action on-court is that perversely you lose track of the action on the court. I'd look at the scoreboard and wonder when all those goals were scored. So it's good to be able read an interesting play-by-play after the fact! I got quite a shock when the final whistle went: I was looking through the lens and wasn't prepared for the roar from the crowd. It's amazing the amount of noise that a few hundred people can generate inside an enclosed space. Fantastic atmosphere. If only a certain other national team of the male persuasion could get that sort of atmosphere at the moment...

Well done for picking out my, er, deliberate mistake there, Hadyn. Oh, the irony. I think I may have been a bit harsh on the character names and lines given out every year. Whilst there are occasionally silly names (e.g. Alex Puddle, Bodil de Rezney), mostly the character names and the lines are conducive for the whole spectrum of gag to serious. I think I was just a bit worked up about getting "Educational" again.
(Actually, I'm probably more worked up about the previous "Educational or Religious" genre being changed to a straight "Educational" genre for this year. I think, given our constraints, actor and location, we would have enjoyed "Religious" a lot more.)
And José's first comment is interesting: for me I would probably enjoy making a serious or scary short more than a comedic one.

Cheers Noizy. I took enough to fill up a couple of 4GB cards, so you'd kinda hope there'd be a few good ones in there! (More megapixels is good, but the file sizes - yikes.)
I so nearly caught the airborne crash referred to above (it happened right in front of me), but the only photo of it is a blurry mess that was either the skater flying through the air or my thumb as I scrambled to get the camera up.
