and all I want is a simple Constitution and A Bill of Rights so successive governments can't turn on and off what we believe are our rights. Thank god i don't do TV, Nat radio is bad enough with pit pull interviewers but it sure as hell is better than NZTV.

"It is true that the News of the World has sometimes used subterfuge to pursue matters of genuine public interest"
all journalist use subterfuge, like all council workers on garbage trucks collect garbage, it's just the way it is and I for one have a choice, don't read them, anyofthem! The press in NZ is diabolical and there is not one journalist I would trust, period.

Hard News: What Now?, in reply to
Totally disagree about Napier, look to Hastings for an alive vibrant City that works. Napier dropped the ball and depends on retirees and holiday makers.

"They’re basically for wankers, aren’t they?"
Absolutely! I am a wanker who loves technology and have lived on the leading edge since the early 70's with my wanky new company and then my wanky new editing system on a mac back in 1998 and my wanky .com company and my wanky digital full frame camera and, and, and . . . you got it dude, we are just a bunch of wankers, that YOU like to hang out with :) there's an ancient adage, been around for at least 5 years, "if you spot it, you got it" -
Keith, if you and other media types had been paying attention and doing your 'job' all this would be irrelevant. Why are you surprised that we appear to be governed by " fools, thieves and maniacs", duh! Why are you surprised that the Internet is coming back to bite those who would deal in secrets and lies. I am about to cancel both my PayPal and Amazon accounts just to spite myself!

Oh dear, back to our knitting?
I believe this decision is what government is for, governance, making choices, decisions. Left to the unions we would all be back in Middle England or worse, another corrupt state of OZ! -
I am reminded of the line from Lawrence of Arabia referring to the Arabs as, "A little people, a silly people". I have worked in film for over 43 years first in Sydney, then New York, then Hollywood and now . . . Featherston :) On the 2nd November I am sharing my journey at the local Community centers 'Speakers Corner'. I lived/survived the 2001 Hollywood Screen Actors walk out. The film industry walked out of Hollywood to Vancouver, Barcelona, Sydney and Wellington. It wasn't pretty. Film attracts a very different species of people than those who work in the auto industry, the medical industry, teaching or any other industry. Many of us are gypsies, by choice, we love the creative flexibility our industry allows us, even encourages us, to live by. This country has produced many great film makers, we have also claimed ownership, as is the OZ/NZ want, to many more ie, Roger Donaldson. The great ones leave and produce their best work off shore. That PJ has remained is testament to his loyalty, courage and his 'fear of flying'. I totally support his stand. Where goes Peter Jackson, goes New Zealand Film, not totally but the basic infrastructure needed to compete globally has been provided by Weta, Wingnut, Park Road Post et al. It is not without a certain irony that the Hobbit, which I only read in the last few years, is the ultimate male journey, the struggle for answers and the challenges we face on the journey through life. Feel free to agree, disagree or . . .
