My Noel Leeming experience: Went to store to buy new iPod Classic. After staring at display for awhile and not finding one, a staff member came over. I said I was looking to buy a iPod Classic, do they have any? He said I'd have to look it up on their website.

Your website? I said. But I'm in the store.

He mentioned something about the website listing stock of each store, then pointed to a computer in the corner.

You want me to look it up myself? I asked.

Yes he did. So I go over to the computer, have to launch Internet Explorer and TYPE IN www.noelleeming.co.nz myself, search for iPod Classic, and call him over. He makes a note of some code on the page, goes to the counter, types it in, and informs me, I quote, "you can't get them in New Zealand yet."

So I went down the road to Parallel Imported and bought one cheaper than their website was listing it for

  • Hard News: The Arguments,

It cracks me up when people say "I was hit as a child and I turned out alright." No you didn't! You think it's okay to hit children! You're fucked up!

  • Hard News: The Arguments,

Y'know, parents who hit their kids *should* be made to feel guilty. It doesn't work and it's morally wrong. This law change does something important: it makes violence towards children - any violence, even a "light smack" - an anachronism. It's an attitude shift that needs to happen now in order to benefit future generations.

Is it ironic I feel like smacking the people who smack their kids?
