I was at the radio showcase where NZ On Air launched AllTracks the other night. To counter Karl's criticism about the lack of depth in the playlists, they said that it's not aimed at music "geeks" - it's to encourage people who are relatively unfamiliar with local music to discover new tunes. That's not a bad thing in my books.
And on the sad news of Errol Brown, I remember thinking this Hot Chocalte song was pretty cool - and dark:

It sounds like an amazing exhibition; a shame the media paid it so little attention during the Gallipoli centenary. The Pogues version of 'And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda' tears me up every time I hear it.

That is a really interesting read. People might like to know that Peter Jefferies will be visiting my radio show tomorrow for a chat - and he'll be bringing his band and playing a song! Very exciting!!! It'll be around 3pm Saturday, on 95bFM.

That's great news. And I know that piece was a big inspiration to other people on the spectrum (my brother included).

Totems was lots of multi-genre fun at bFM's Fancy New Band too! Can't remember the last time I danced to drum n' bass at the King's Arms?! (And Thin Lizzy!)

My brother was diagosed with autism in the early 1970s. It was recommended to my mother that he be put into "care". She declined and she and my father did an amazing job of bringing him up to be able to deal with the world pretty damn well.

This is my very favourite 'having a stink day' song ever (I know Russell likes it too). Part uplifting gospel tune, part club classic.
And this one helps quite a lot too:

And I'll die of excitement if he plays any Laughing Clowns songs!
Geoff - Yo La Tengo! Fantastic!

I agree with Robyn. The crowd really made the Skeptics movie - it did feel like being part of a secret society. We really felt it when we went to an inner city pub afterwards - the folks there were watching the rugby (which usually I'm not averse to), but our little black-wearing, Skeptics-bamboozled clique definitely didn't feel at home. We beat a retreat to Beer Brothers - which is great - and found a whole bunch more of our tribe there. Met the director too!
I've had the chewing gum experience at the Town Hall too, prior to the Pavement show, pretty insulting really.
