  • Speaker: Why we can’t just fix secondary…,

I hope this isn't seen as a thread hijack, but it is a taxation question. What is The PAS readership's opinion on Universal Guaranteed Income plus flat tax? It seems to eliminate the issues around secondary tax and income splitting, yet provide the benefits of progressive taxation. And we could rid ourselves of the whole WINZ horror show.

  • Hard News: Gower Speaks, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

So get on ya horse and tell him

    Interesting idea Sofie.

I would never had thought to write to Winston Peters (I’m not what you would call his core constituency).

He and I might not share many common values, but we do agree on the detrimental influence foreign investment is having. And the threat to our sovereignty the TPPA represents.

Winston is shaping up to be the most influential person in determining the outcome of this election. This is also likely to be his last term, his thoughts may turn to: What will be my legacy? How will I leave this country a better place?

What would persuade him a Labour led government would best achieve his goals?

Power to the peoples. We are not sheeples!

Heh, whenever I hear that word I think of this.

  • Hard News: Gower Speaks,

Here is my nightmare scenario. Winston decides to go with National - on the condition of John Key’s scalp. Key retires to Hawaii a hero, the guy who took one for the team.

Winston can be a minister, in or out of cabinet, in any post that does not affect commerce or trade. He can push any social conservative agenda he wants (John is relaxed about the little things). NZ First will give National confidence and supply. But most importantly, it must not vote down any TPPA bill (it may abstain or whatever).

Oh and for falling on his sword, Key gets to pick his business friendly successor.
