  • Speaker: Part 22: Not the Last Post,

A strange way for Fleming to end his ODI career.

Review of : his tenure here.

  • Speaker: Part 16: Charisma - Just a Dark…,

    Simon g,

Well said on the Stephen Jones Syndrome; we do still seem to get sucked in by that bait.

But Selvey's article (and I am enjoying listening to him on the radio at the Cup) has a fair element of green envy in it I thought.

Anyway, wait until we need to call on our flambouyant middle-order to win some games; then the Brazil comparisons can come out :)

  • Speaker: Part 14: My Mind’s Sedate,

I've resigned myself to the fact that due to the lack of great openers we (the Blackcaps that is) will always be 2 or 3 down by the time we get to 50 runs

And now Waddle and co are having a go at our top order for scoring too many runs, meaning the middle order aren’t getting a go.

Fleming is timing his return to form superbly…

  • Speaker: Part 14: My Mind’s Sedate,

Flem was cover-driving as well as he did v SA in the last world cup in the game v the Windies.

Until Styris ran him out, that is.

  • Speaker: Part 13: Rattue: A Vegetable Stew,

Meanwhile the big debate of the day rages on....

Does Mailnga's effort this morning constitute a Double Hatrick? Or is that 6 in 6??

Opinions on this (seemingly trivial?) vital issue to found on the Mailinga thread on www.sportsfreak.co.nz

  • Speaker: Part 12: Match state = drinks,

Simon g; just as well NZ had few injuries at the 1999 World Cup, they had Carl Bulfin in the squad as cover.

That was a good side, but totally imbalanced. No batting cover whatsoever, and it was played on green tops.

Hence Astle could go through the month racking up 3 or 4 ducks without a fear in the world of getting dropped.

Mike G; I take it you've never listened to RRRrrrrrron Snowden then?

Apparently, in his "prime" (tour to NZ in 1974, particularly Chch) he scored a LOT off the field

Sorry to be a pedant, Paul W, but it was Glamorgan bowler Malcolm Nash that Sobers got the 6 sixes off.

Skell wasn't good enough to play county cricket, was he?

  • Speaker: Part 6: Why We Lose,

Strange interview between Baz McC and Biomag Man this afternoon.

Baz: "Yes, Scott's been having a lot of trouble regaining his form this season, but he's been practicing really hard over the last couple of weeks."

Um, what was he doing in Australia then?
