  • Hard News: Totally Local,

In a reasonably priced car, perhaps. :)

Very enjoyable day, but I collapsed into a slumber without coming here to report back. I've posted about the show on t'other thread, and will return here about the select committee soon. Breakfast first.

  • Hard News: Swine flu and swearing,

Really enjoyed the filming yesterday, and if the opportunity presents on any other topics I'd be keen again. My first time on telly since about 11 so I found the behind the scenes stuff fascinating.

The folks that make Media7 are uniformly friendly, down to earth and interesting people. Had great conversations afterwards with both Exec Producers, and told them their support for the show as a platform for discussion means the world to people like me. Russell held in high regard all round, and I liked seeing him up close in that presenter role. Very professional and a great jacket to boot (on other threads I'd be demanding pictures). Random sighting afterwards in the bar of Nicky Watson for the first time as a reminder that we were in Auckland after all.

I hope our segment comes across OK - seemed to work well from what others told me afterwards. Complex topic to pack into a short time, but a good start I'd say. Russell used some of my words for his first lines - proud. Enjoyed an amiable chat with Curtis beforehand and I believe we established that there was more he could do as Associate Producer of Attitude. Offered my help with that. He did get ambushed a bit at the start of our segment but I reckon he handled it well. Watch for Sally showing why putting lively journos on a panel is a risk for any presenter.

As an audience member I found the swearing panel hilarious. Pam Corkery was a gem (and another example of the panel-journo maxim). Bill Hastings reminded me of Sam the Eagle at times - in a nice way - and delivered a great punchline. Not sure how many reaction shots you'll get in the final product. I have much faith in the editors after meeting one of them.

As someone without Freeview or Sky, I'll be awaiting the show's appearance online. I will also be taking up the Exec Producer's offer of a dvd copy so I can show my computer-free mum. Didn't get to talk with my brother much but great to have him in the audience where he is often to be found. I'll certainly be going along to some future filmings. Only a couple more at the Classic comedy club before things move to the TVNZ compound I'm told.

Rex, I'll hand that one to Russell. I didn't get Sally's details but she was bloody good value on our panel. Probably offended her afterwards by casting aspersions on Hawkes Bay or the parts of it that produced Ann Tolley to be precise. Will keep the Lenin story between us two, eh.
