Robyn: Who needs to watch? - John Barrowman is automatically the gayest of 'em all

It's not what they so gayfully do, but how they do it that makes for an entertaining half hour of telly.

the Jonathan Ross interview with Captain Jack is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Well, if you liked that, then I will reccomend the recent episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, where throughly the episode, John Barrowman and pixieboy host Simon Amstell fiercely competed to see who could be the gayest. Start with part one here.

and I always think that their last name is Fortune, even though I know it's not

"Hey, cousin J.D. from Canada's gonna be in town. He's in some Aussie pub rock covers band and they're over here doing a tour of the nine main centres."

Oh come on, how could it be better than Troop Beverly Hills?

This is true. Troop Beverly Hills is a cracker, but I think Shelley Long's best post-Cheers work was as Carol Brady in the Brady Bunch Movie.

In other matters, I also recommend Life On Mars (but how long ago did that first screen in the UK)? And Torchwood is a rude little delight, that manages to make Cardiff look very modern and sexy.

  • Speaker: Hot August Night,

Ink on the Internet is free so I will never understand why so many sites use grey text which is so hard to read.

I suspect it's because for people with normal vision, black on a bright white computer screen can be quite a harsh combination to look at when reading lots of text.

But what an interesting account of things! I've always suspected the social side of the United Nations would have a slightly surreal feel to it.

Something that's always bothered me about Outrageous Fortune though.

Shakespeare aside, it always reminds me of the 1987 Bette Midler/Shelley Long "comedy" of the same name.

But having said that, I've never actually got around to watching an episode of Outrageous Fortune, so I haven't had the chance to develop new associations with the name. Oh, perhaps Santa will bring me season one on DVD, etc.

P.S. Fiona, thanks for the bra link.

I've just realised that I actually use YouTube for discovering a lot of new music. Often I'll read about some cool new song, and then I'll head over to YouTube and watch the video. I also use it to listen to old songs, to make sure they were actually as awesome as my memory claims they are (often they're not).

And then, should I be sufficiently pleased by what I've heard on YouTube, I'll go in search of a higher quality version of the song, either as a download or a CD.

Can someone tell me in a nutshell what DRM is?

Boing Boing keep going on about it, but I haven't picked up what it's all about.

Wikipedia gives me a handy choice of 13 DRM acronyms to choose from.

    Argh, sorry for the rant

Hey, I don't see anyone complaining! I thought it was a really interesting take on events from the perspective of a (soon-to-be-ex) insider.

For what it's worth, all the problems I've experienced with Xtra broadband in the past have either been my fault or as soon as I've rung the helpdesk, a recorded message has told me of an outage.

Having said that, there have been lots of mini-annoyances since I switched to Go Large about a month ago, but what's new there?

    Oh, this is interesting.

It looks like a certain long-running NZ-based online music seller is also in position to be an iTunes aggregator.
