    and spreading it

Agreed; but I appreciate inconsistency and imperfection more and more as I age.

Working :) But working at a memorial service. Does that count as attending?

Depends if you're going in spirit as well as body. I am inclining to not wanting to know, but that's this week. I may change; or I may just spend the time treasuring my nearest and dearest, feasting, doing the adoration of the woodburner, thanking the heavens for working water, power and sewers, and mulling paint charts (we are now officially in the EQR labyrinth).

Rather than a levy, as proposed by the Greens, a series of earthquake bond issues by the CCC or CCHL could be the way to go. It could be very appealing to the Granddad and Grandma investors who are not in the finance companies because of the high risk but who need a stable income and want to help the rebuild. I wonder if it is possible.

Nah, He was Haden. As he said late in his life "I've spent my life battling bullshit." I loved him: he was mad, irascible, inconsistent, brutal, appalling and bloody funny, as well as incredibly well-read and liked a good party, often outlasting those of us many years younger. I have a collected wisdom of Frank that the DOGs (Dominion Old Girls) put out -- I think for his official retirement.

Are there any newsrooms like that left?

Chch Council asset sales on the agenda. Knock me down with a feather

Ngaire is a gem, isn't she? Bob Parker especially treasures her ability to get her lines word-perfect. And, unlike Sarah Palin, she doesn't even have to write them on her hand. I smell a shitstorm acoming.

Wouldn't think he'd go next time, But who knows, the mayoralty will be up for grabs. Hence Lianne Dalziel positioning, and I can just about hear Tim Barnett manouvering (sp?) -- he is in town and on CTV last night. The right could well come up with someone credible. Should be a fine old scrap whoever stands, and the local body elections are only 18 months away.

As I was saying, newsos report on square acres / square hectares. Um, it's already a measure of area. Don't need to square

I can hear Frank Haden rotating from his fatalised state. (He once threatened to fatalise me for a crime against English grammar.)
