  • Hard News: Now It's On,

I've got a brand new iMac24 with Creative Suite 3.3 that I've just started up. I've forgotten all about the election.

  • Hard News: Now It's On,

Anyone got any further ideas of whether Labour will lift any Maori seats from Maori Party?

  • Hard News: Now It's On,

Yeah, bring it on! I'm ready for that election!
I'll agree with the 45% win to Nats but can't form a coalition cos not enough people like them. Labour/Greens I can live with. And don't forget our faithful labrador, Jim Anderton.
I'll be sick and bleating if our new Government includes Gerry Brownlee, Nick Smith, Tony Ryall, Lockwood Smith . . . arghhhh! I can't go on!
By the way, why hasn't there been a headline in the papers yet - "Winnie in the Pooh".

  • Hard News: Weekend Warriors,

"Interviews are conducted with respondents on land-line telephones (for respondents with a land-line telephone) and cellular phones (for respondents who are cell-phone only)."

Bugger, there goes that theory . . .

  • Hard News: Weekend Warriors,

Spoke to friends in Philadelphia in the weekend who are consoling themselves with the theory that most of the polls are conducted on land lines and miss a big chunk of Democrat-leaning, mobile phone toting young voters.

  • Island Life: He lied to us all,

Forgive me for going off target but I have had this little annoyance for a while. Did Winny state (as I believe) in his pre-election advertisement of 1996 (I think) that a vote for him would ensure the departure of the National Government of the day. He then of course went on to strike his famous deal with Jim Bolger. Anyone know if it is possible to view old party political broadcasts somewhere on the net?

  • Hard News: Listen to the Music,

My 10-year-old daughter was wandering around the house last night signing, "I kissed a girl and I liked it . . ." A little disconcerting.

  • Hard News: Trust. Us.,

Sounds like everyone is in. How about . . . website as described where all the stories are published during the week and then bundled up at end of the week, supported by giveaway printed sheet in city locations (simple as double-sided A4) with briefs of the stories on it and URLs to follow for the full story, supported by TVNZ6 weekly show (a la RB's) that highlights and follows up on a couple of the stories, supported by slots on friendly radio stations, supported by weekly slots in the suburbans or independent papers that are interested.
And, here is a fun one for you all, news reel at the beginning of movies, just like the 1940-50s. Who's doing that these days!

  • Hard News: A few days away,

I was also hoping the Chinese opening ceremony might do the stylised opium wars/bombarding of Shanghai. Would have been a good interpretation with all that technology they had at their fingertips.

  • Hard News: A few days away,

Can anyone suggest the best way to pick up bits of the Olympics one wants to see. E.g. I wanted to see the end of the women's road race cycling last night instead of our useless soccer players being demolished by a bored looking Brazilian team. Is there an easy access website or two that I can quickly run off to in order to see what I want?
