  • Hard News: Friday Music: Schooling Up,

I really despair when a digital release has whats referred to as a flip side or b side - its a track, a single if you must or just some music. For many its a term that suggests its not deemed as good as the A side (from a marketing/radio angle at least) /rant

Me... I want to see and hear more Lorde remixes and edits... a little like this:

Her voice and delivery is perfect for some clever clogs or cheeky buggers to take it into realms her and her minders might not

This music stuff, its all very exciting right now

  • Hard News: Friday Music: In the neighbourhood, in reply to Russell Brown,

I think I'd enjoy a rendition by them as a duo... that could be well weird and potentially very very cool

  • Hard News: Friday Music: In the neighbourhood,

that Rhian Sheehan remix is mint!

This week I've bene listening to a lot of the KiwiFM covers and originals from their soundcloud

Jesse Sheehan's Jesus I Was Evil is brilliant

and being a fall fan and it being budget week I've taken to playing this cover by She's So Rad

    good times

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Heavy Metal's…, in reply to Grant McDougall,

could it be by virtue of them being nice blokes?

being locals sure doesn't hurt either, add in their real social networks and virtual (they're bloody great on the twitters) and you've got a connection to audience

I like em and rarely bother to check out metal... as in guilty of the above

the beer was too sweet imo, nice for a bottle but not a session

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Record Store Day,

I love record stores... or did, not a fan of the Groovy experience but a fan of what it contains...

I do miss stores & those that inhabited them who have shaped my tastes and indulged my purchasing cravings - people who have unwittingly helped make me the person I am

These days like many I'm more digitally focused and when buying wax I do so online - for I get what I want quicker and cheaper

Not sure if I'll be venturing into town - considering it more for the spinners of vinyl than anything else, its a social thing... the Beastwars/Eastern 7" is on my want list & already ordered via an early riser who will be at store door on opening time and maybe that Moon Duo remix album

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Walking Distance,

I think the major failing for the electronic/dance fraternity was the need to put that shit under a (tent) roof - electronic music lives & breathes as much outdoors as in, party lights and dancing girls or not (personal preference is for the not, but I is old)

    Enjoying theLadi6 remix, score!

    - BasementTapes (and others) if you're reading, make sure you label ya tunes - metadata is your friend and often your biggest calling card in the virtual, don't reply on the dl'er (same with the Mclaren remix but I doubt they're reading)

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Go Home DJ,

I use DJ Mixer pro on the pad... its fun, simple to use, freemium and can do turntables or CDJs (god knows why one would go for the latter)..

and for those old fashioned whom blending, mixing or mashing of two tunes is sacrilegious I love AirVinyl by Air Studios (George Martin, Beatles connection)... a single virtual turntable or cassette tapedeck for playing back those over compressed files

course nothing beats the real McCoy (says he whose just setup his decks after a year due to space limitations)

in short - playing records, real or not is a lot of fun... add booze and bad dancing for regrettable times
