  • Hard News: That Buzzing Sound,

NZTA announces preferred option for Western Ring Route completion.

I've not yet found route maps more detailed than these.

  • Hard News: That Buzzing Sound,

In the absence of online versions of the Bills, I'll quote from the draft Local Government (Auckland Reorganisation) Bill, s11:

    (1) The Transition Agency must have a governing body consisting of a chairperson and no fewer than 2 but no more than 4 other members appointed by the Minister.

And we're reliant on Sue Kedgley, Phil Twyford, George Hawkins, Shane Jones and Rahui Katene pushing back on the 5 National (including Nikki Kaye) + 1 ACT member on the select committee for changes...

Oh, and if the Families Commission wasn't feeling the media spotlight before and hoped to with Rankin they're getting it now. At least changes there will hopefully get some coverage...

  • Field Theory: Temepara George Has Aqua Toenails,

By the time you replay that rebound, we've already missed a goal at the other end.

Next generation PVR?: Allowing you timeshift to live when the broadcaster cuts to replay...

For myself, I'm just so glad to see it I give TVNZ a pass on doing it their way.

Both attacks are almost always right up at the transverse line, and as defense gets better and better the centre third is becoming more involved in the attack.

Yes indeed. My point wsa more along the lines that I can't imagine watching the game one player at a time, at least I find I can't.

On standing and stopping - sure, if you're watching one player but follow the ball and do those games fly...

  • Hard News: Goodie Bag!,

I wonder if the Green MPs will bother showing

and whether they'll bring their lanterns. The Arrow's gotta show, they're warmer up recognition over in Smallville right.

Gil Kane got better latterly I thought - when he'd paid his dues and could take things a stylised, almost abstract place.

  • Hard News: Dear Prudence,

That the Herald get's facts wrong and attempts to see scandal where there is none wasn't news but it was good to see something on the media there.

Hopefully they can also apply that eye on themselves sometime.

  • Field Theory: It's the Super 14, baby!,

Fewer players (whether from the top overseas or coming up through the ranks) versus NZRU forming a product attractive to sponsers is the heart of the issue I think. More player then more interchangability between Super 14 and NPC, less need to reliance on the same faces/bodies and then recovery time, more games in more places at all levels.

Given that seems unlikely, fewer Super xx games and reinvesting attention in NPC, Maori, Ferns, ABs.

And ELVs? Let's check the motivation here: Ti make the game more attractive to sponsers or coming from players concerns?

  • Up Front: Also, The Rain Isn't Gone,

Furthermore, we are living the 21st-fucking-Century! Why does dentistry still hurt?!

I believe because dentists doing quite-well-thank-you-very-much are unwilling to invest in a $200K laser drill. But show me one that is and I might break my current rule and visit. No problems so far anyways.

And it a similar rule with optometrists, regardless of deteriation in one and the other playing age-related catch-up I can still read, don't drive anyway and am fond of interpreting what I'm seeing in the distance, the surreal becoming the real as I approach. Not Un Chien Andalou surreal I'm happy to say.

But that has an exception: sudden sight loss in one eye is a early (but short) warning of brain blood pressure on the nerve, needing urgent life saving surgury in the case of a friend. But then it's off to the doctor not the optometrist for me...
