Come to think of it, didn't Problem Gambling Foundation Of New Zealand run a campaign that included a poster of a guy with the sky tower sticking out of his arm? and that Sky City made a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority which was upheld. Hypocritical and scandalous if you ask me.

A point not lost on me when the place first opened. In our house the Sky tower has always been referred to as "The Skypodermic". You will never look at it the same way again. ;)

Reserve Bank Governor Dr Bollard told the job summit that the global recession is thought by some to be the "biggest destruction of global wealth ever".
He said the amount of money lost was in the trillions of dollars and that if one dollar notes were strung together, they would reach the sun.
This, in itself, speaks volumes.
The Global wealth we so often hear about is all smoke and mirrors. Any economy that is based upon anything other than pure trade relies on the confidence the participants have in the currency that that trade is conducted in. By bandying about terms such as "Global Recession" or "Financial Crisis" you create a self fulfilling prophesy. The "conspiracy theorist" within tells me that something is rotten and it ain't just in Denmark. By "destroying" this imaginary wealth the big players have sold the public a dead puppy and run off with the real loot, the power to control the masses to their own evil ends. So let's talk about how to save jobs, let's talk about you losing your livelihood, your home, all you have worked for, by giving a hand out to those that already have enough. Here's an idea. Let us give them that pile of one dollar notes, because their chief bean counter seems to think we still have dollar notes, It's all about confidence anyhow and if the man named after a short post believes in an imaginary currency then we have no problem other than the collapse of a totally ficticious financial system. -
The thing about Outlook is it is not just an eMail client. It is also a calender/Organiser, with reminders for appointments etc. task lists and a fully fledged contacts database with all the bells and whistles you could imagine IIRC Lotus was similar but Evolution is Open Source.
I reckon it's DA Bomb on Linux and would love to see it stable on Windows but, as I said before, How many people actually really use this kind of software. I mean, if you have to have a computer to organise your life do you really have one?. -
Yes. The incognito setting in Chrome will do all that but an improvement would be to have it notified on startup "Would you like this session to run in Incognito Mode?" sort of thing, (now I sound as dodgy as David ;-) ) and of course you would be able to disable the notification.
On my suggestion of Evolution for Windows, I hadn't tried it when I wrote that. It is not even in Beta yet it is a pre-release (which is what i thought Beta was) and has some major quirks on XP an, I don't know about Vista, I never bothered with that.
If you want a play and have Ninja, or should I say Java? skills, the source code is available and with a bit of work it would be an Outlook killer but as Morgan says "Such a relief not to run Outlook" how many of us actually do? -

They're bloody clever, those media companies. I'm surprised they find it so hard to make money...

WooHoo, I'm a complete weirdo. Chrome is excellent but old habits die hard. Things I like about Opera. Tabbed browsing, Opera had it long before Firefox. Notes, until you've used it you wouldn't know how much you need it. The "insert Personal" menu item, great for form filling and bits of code like quotes or inserting url links and the like. Speed Dial, a bit like your "Big icons" but you can set them yourself as opposed to the system flagging your "most used" pages (try getting rid of that accidentally visited pron site glaring at the first person that fires up Chrome in the morning) The built in eMail client M2 and heaps more.
Having said that there are things that bug me. Like the contact and bookmarks format (.adr) that is so like impossible to export to another client without converting through a third party prog. and the mail format (.mbx) that is, well, even worser.
So, I'm kinda stuck with it like an old relative that just wont die.
If I were looking for a good setup today I would be going for Google Chrome and Evolution for windows. I already use Evo. on my Linux box an am quit impressed, Outlook look out.
