There’s something seriously wrong when...
...The Minister of Justice apparently needs to be semi-comatose to deal with cabinet. On TV3 tonight she states:
"I couldn't in all consciousness, as the Minister of Justice, provide a report or recommendation to Cabinet that I did not believe would stand up to scrutiny"
True dinks!
She might try to get the words right, they are facts of a sort, and deliver meaning, especially when she witters on about the Canadian retired judge not having the facts right - but who supplied him with these facts - one must assume she or her minions did.I see the the watered down alcohol reform bill went thru tonight in front of an almost empty Parliament, were they all at Bellamys?
Knocking back the cocktail du jour The Judicious Collins (2 parts corn mash bourbon, 1 part bitter lemon, saccharine, 3 parts old boys club soda, - shaken with ice, strained and garnished with cherry and orange) quaff quickly and leave your consciousness behind... -

…the same basic respect we expect
to be treated with ourselves. The more I think about it, the less I like this whole schadenfreude (taking joy at others' misfortune) entertainment sector.
This isn’t simply passive pratfall-based schadenfreude the callers were engaged in, it was actively set up, entrapment if you will, and malice is at the heart of that spectrum. I thought there were laws about using telecommunication devices for malicious purposes?
These Australians (DJs / Management) have dug their own hole by wittingly (or by being badly advised) not persevering in at least getting the proper clearances.
One assumes they have the phone records to show how many times they tried to call the hospital, to seek their approval to humiliate one of their staff, for the amusement of some crassly insensitive antipodeans. -
