  • Island Life: Key and the 'nesians,

    Two words. Steve Braunias.

I was listening to some guy waffling on National radio the other day, bemoaning the coverage of the election by the mainstream press. In his opinion (I can't remember who it was I was listening at work and i don't usually listen to National Radio) both the Herald and the Sunday Star Times, were appalling in their coverage giving the impression that the stories were "put to bed" before the results were in. He remarked that "The election specials' were , possibly, were the lowest point of NZ journalism in living memory. The highest praise went to The Otago Daily Times for it's Election Special Pullout and to, believe it or not, Steve Braunias' article "John Key, Mr Opportunity"
I have always enjoyed Steve's work and I would rate him as being "Up there" with the likes of Dave Barry and others of that ilk that escape my aging brain.
    In other "news"
John Key's autobiography "From Helensville to Helengrad, my lust for power" chronicles Johns struggle to appeal to the base, which as we all know is "Al Qaeda" in Arabic, and just how hard it was to prevent the public from finding out anything about his policies and, indeed, himself, whilst retaining a high profile at the expense of all others in his party.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

I find it enchanting that Roger Douglas has already been appointed Minister of Very Nasty Things, the economy is already doomed (but that will be very good for Labour, so never mind), John Key is a drooling retard and anyone who voted for him is a stupid greedy misogynistic fascist,

So. Craig I can finally agree with something you stated with your, more than familiar, rhetorical abandon.
Anypoo, Pub was soooo good, a bit like an MMP table conversation where I convinced all the National voters that their reason for voting National (because Labour has been in for 9 years) was we needed a change, was a brainless and lazy reason. They all admitted that Helen had been, at least, one of the best Prime Ministers of New Zealand, ever.
Most felt guilty for voting for John Key once they heard Helen resign. Go figure,. Should we blame the MSM?. Maybe.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

Opener Simon Katich struck an unbeaten 92 to move Australia to 189 for two at stumps.

Well. That was the score at the time of writing. I wasn't into predicting things at that point. As well you may know, my predictions for the outcome of the debacle of the election were as wrong as the people who voted for Rodders in Epsom. GRRRR.
Well, it is a nice sunny day and if anyone cares to join me I am off to Galbraith's for a well deserved pint of Bellringers Best Bitter or maybe a Bitter and Twisted. From this point I shall try to take my bitterness in Hop form. I shall do my best to refrain from yelling obscenities from the car as I drive through Epsom.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

To me, this National victory is a a victory for the ugly New Zealander, the boorish provincial mysogynist, the bullying white male, for the snearing tall poppyism of the kiwiblog sewer.

Well said Tom I think that would make a great Tee shirt skogan. ;-)
Also, I think you may have been the first person on this forum to use the word "VIM" (apart from, maybe, Craig. Who has used nearly all the words in the multilingual lexicon. sometimes even in the right order ;-))

  • Hard News: Prospects,

"The Left" should be happy, given the economy. If Key doesn't have it all 'fixed' in 3 years time there will be a massive swing back. Labour have dodged a bullet.

Very true John, I have been saving that one for when I have finished venting.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

Rodney thinks Roger should be finance minister because those are the skills Act has to offer the country? Oh oh. Thanks Epsom.

Thanx Goodoh, we've been waiting for you. ;-)
I was thinking, as I woke up this morning with a blue moon in my eyes, I have to drive through Epsom later today, will I be able to resist shouting out of the car window "Thank you Epsom, you bunch of C LI N T S"
