Human era...
Didn’t I hear Northland with its sandstone foundation would be safe...
More than likely, at least a millennia (or two), and you'll be able to look for traces of previous ruling species who also thought they were in a safe area (or era)...

Kon Tiki Tours...
Some say the City of Auckland was designed by the Flying Spaghetti Monster or maybe even Cthulhu.
I believe your city's founding fathers may have come originally from the plains of Nazca in Peru... where their mysterious tram system doodles still perplex modern man...

Shake! some action...
It will be more robust than any other NZ city. The weak structures are gone.
True enough! (though one could call the Council a 'weak structure', especially if it kowtows to all Key's demands that we put loss leading facilities ahead of fixing roads and easing the citizens' load )
And hell, even without disasters worldwide civilisation's infrastructure is getting stretched - India lost half its grid yesterday, again...
The US seems to spend more on war than looking after its people and basic infrastructure - these chickens all have to come home to roost one day... -

Off the buses?
Unfortunately post-quake they’ve been struggling for patronage
and are proposing cutting back or stopping services all over the place - buses every hour instead of half hour in some places - and creating extra connections for people to get where they used to go in one trip...

Joyce green fail...
A tram system is best if it’s designed into the city right from the start, and ChCh has a unique opportunity to do that. It’s worth considering the pros and cons.
Yesterday on Jim Mora's Afternoons the Panel segment, Garry Moore said he was on the NZ Transport board and suggested post-earthquake that Chchch had a chance to get these things right, green belts for cycles and infrastructure etc - and Steven Joyce rejected it out of hand! (Listen to MP3 here at approx 4.50)

he’s not allowed to drive to his home
on public roads too, is there any recompense for this intrusion on other peoples lives - or is it seen by the powers that be as a necessary sacrifice by the public (not them though) for living in what I'm sure they would have talked about as a 'vibrant modern entertainment environment'...

Oh yeah where do I start...
Paul, are there other activities in or around the stadium facility? I haven't got my head around exactly where it is in relation to Dunedin City as yet, but I assume it has a big footprint (maybe even plus large parking areas?), what is around it - industry? Housing? and is it largely a dead zone when there's nothing on - ie most of the time? (a leading question I know - but that's what I foresee here...)

It would be nice to see some public fruit trees in the frame, even community gardens.
I doubt they'll even keep the myriad orphaned fruit trees that will remain in the residential red zone park areas, any way the future of food is chemistry, don'tcha know?

She'll be right, the same bloke looking after your water is overseeing the Chchch recovery... what could possibly go worng?

Collecting your own rainwater is banned in Auckland, no?
Hell, I'd have thought they'd be grateful for any water diverted from their parlous stormwater system at the moment...
