  • Hard News: Dancing the DMCA,

I often had reason to trawl through the shared drives at my last employer, and one thing I constantly saw was a huge amount of dead or abandoned folders full of all sorts of interesting things. that possibly shouldn't have been abandoned.

After this I think perhaps it is a very good idea to employ people as records management.

hmm, i wonder if spreading this video could fit s307A of the Crimes Act - Threats of harm to people or property!

    Oh noes!

I suspect youtube has a policy of removing anything that anyone complains about automatically, so long as it looks like it's official.

Pretty reasonable given their huge size and global reach, there is no way they could take the necessary time to research this properly.

  • Hard News: Awful in more than one way,

I was about to say "what about the crazy defeats inflicted by the British Imperial forces upon the Italians in Italian Africa till (march?) 1941?"

and no, I don't think people thought italians were quite the loleasybeats they later became stereotyped as (although this probably was the campaign that started this)

Actually at the local library I used while growing up there was a whole heap of erotic stuff right next to the young adult section, specifically the sci fi part.

I'm not 100% sure the library knew the literature was in anyway erotic though. The erotic stuff was all of a specific genre - which I'll call sexy westerns, and it was all lumped in with normal westerns, the latter of which I used to read which is how I found the other stuff. There was a lot of it.

America is designed to hinder serious change at a national level, thats why it has so many states, an entrenched constitution, and also why the Supreme Court is so powerful (a small, easy to monitor authority with universal competance is a rare thing in such a federation). Which is a good thing if one fears tyranny or over mighty rulers, but perhaps not so good when positive social change is needed.

Well by endpoint I meant as a "british comedian". I think.

Ugh, sometimes the net freaks me out a little. I swear there must be a whole group of people on Wikipedia who race to be the first to amend a biography when someone famous dies.

Robyn, I agree. On one hand I'm glad he has managed to make it big in another country and thus keep feeding his tribe of hungry orphans, on the other hand it does seem a rather strange end point for a fine British comedian.
