  • Island Life: I have aspirations going,

So far everything I have heard Key say is basically what Labour have been saying and doing for years so it's good to see they have his firm support. I assume he will be voting for them in the next election.

Supports social welfare, wouldn't have sent troops, global warming is happening and mad respect to the Greens for saying so for so long, anti-nukes, repect the tangata whenua...

If I'd known he was such a solid centre left bloke I may have voted for him in Helensville last time out.

  • Island Life: All stadium, all the time,

My father (recently retired from the ARC 'air up there') was explaining to me how the Ports were snaffled back under 'our' control a few years back by the ARC in a shrewd move on their part so that now it is a big earner for the coffers and if it were to suffer financially the rate payers would end up having to open their wallets. Either that or else the ARC would have to curb their spending on transport initiatives.

On the transport note he has described Auckland thus: "Aucklands public transport was utter shit, now it's just bloody bad". Hopefully in a decade people will be saying it's "pretty bad" and then we can work our way to "mediocre". One things for sure, we need to stop going out and keep going up, but I've been getting the whisper that the councils are starting to give in and are letting the sprawl continue. I therefore reserve the right to tell Aucklanders who complain about PT to "get fucked".

Anyway, nice post Compie. Certainly exposes more the hysterical, cringeworthy hypocracy that came out in the debate. And who was that &*%$# lady who was dragged out of the meeting? Seen her on the tellie before. Later describing it is a victory for democracy. No lady, it was a victory for negativity.

My wife has been pregnant once and we had our baby. The facts are clear. Asians married to me have 0% abortions. Feel free to use these statistics in any article people and quote me directly.

So then Rutherford College in West Auckland would simply become "College" ?

Might I suggest a personal hynotist, and lie detector machine for every politician in parliament. It will clean the place up noticeably I'm sure.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

Live.... Rage Against the Machine. No gimmicks, flash lights or anything else but bass, drums, guitar and fury. It was wel known that no band ever wanted to go on after them at festivals for fear of sounding like enya by comparison. Viva la revolution!

Tell them you won't be their friend anymore.

Shows though that somebody is aware of where they stand on something. Mind you, they could change their mind 19 times between now and then. Any hint on which party it MIGHT be?

  • Hard News: Maxim-ising the vote,

I'd like to see shrek shorn in the middle of Eden park during play in the WC final in 2011.

Anybody see Mr Brown on morning TV today just before 8? I did cos I slept in and my 10 week old was trying to tell me something but I couldn't work it out thus delaying my departure.

So it's pronounced Ha! ger (as in 'gir'l) ?? Or is it Hay-ger ? I got a bit confused by the clarification.

DC_Red. More of an issue with how we get letters in the mail from the government saying that because we are low wage earners we are entitled to a community services card. This after several years at university working in a 'valued', and 'important' position where we are expected to act like professionals, guidance councellors, social welfare officers, cricket coaches, data entry drones before we even get to teaching. Relative to other wage earners teaching salaries have plummeted in the last 15+ years and the proposal is to have us moving with inflation. pffffft. Fun job though :)

It's proposed that our negotiations are brought back into line with election year so look to see Labour and National either both pandering or playing hard ball in two years time.

  • Island Life: I have aspirations going,

How are they going to afford tax cuts when us teachers are going to be marching through the streets next year demanding 20% pay increases, massive cuts to class sizes (meaning mo teachers needed = mo money), more non contact time for HODs (meaning more teachers needed = mo money), better facilities (meaning mo money needed), more PD (= mo money) and thats just for starters. ;)
