  • Hard News: Mediaworks: The only horizon…,

Apparently TV3 staff have been gagged from publically commenting, but I'd pay good money to hear what the Campbell Live staff *really* think about the axing, Weldon, Christie, etc, etc.

  • Hard News: Mediaworks: The only horizon…, in reply to Tom Semmens,

Personally, I think the dog’s breakfast that is RNZ afternoons could do with Campbell. Simon Mercep is OK, but to me his style is more after 10pm.

Good call. He strikes me as a nice bloke, but I'd replace both him and Jim Mora from afternoons and drop Mora from Checkpoint entirely.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Record Store…, in reply to Ian Dalziel,

    The Fall in a Hole record is a legend (two records: 1 @ 45rpm and 1 @ 33 1/3rpm)

I highly recommend reading long-serving Fall bassist Steve Hanley's recent memoir The Big Midweek. Crikey, talk about suffering for your art. Loaded with lots of great details, anecdotes and crossing paths with the great and the good.

  • Hard News: About Campbell Live,

It'll be really fascinating to see what Campbell and his team actually end up doing once this has all been settled one way or the other.

Ideally he / they'll still have some broadcasting / print outlet, rather than drifting into obscurity or PR. Let's wait and see...

  • Hard News: About Campbell Live, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

It seems to be that way in Radio as well,

I'm not so sure. In the past year the PM has been regularly interviewed on Morning Report (though that is probably prompted by DPF / Curia polls). Also, I'm sure you're aware of the number of Nat toadies turning up on The Panel, etc.

  • Hard News: About Campbell Live, in reply to Robyn Gallagher,

Serious question: who here regularly watches Campbell Live? And by that, I mean the full episode, live to air. Not occasionally watching a video someone has shared on Facebook.

I do. I watch it most nights. I generally really like it and - stating the obvious, I know- god knows it's a hell of a lot better than what else is on offer.

  • Hard News: How about that cricket, eh?,

Pretty much any of the sixes NZ hit at Eden Park the other night would've been sixes at the MCG, too.

Also, if the Aussies are so good at playing on big grounds, why did they only hit four sixes at Eden Park compared to NZ's six ?

It will be a superb game and the intense Trans-Tasman rivalry will motivate NZ no end, let alone that it's a final. Also, it'll probably be Vettori's last game for NZ, so he'll be wanting to give it all and the team for him, too.

  • Capture: Aurora Australis, in reply to Russell Brown,

I had the same feelings looking at Blair Parkes’ latest Beach Storm double exposures…We do need to organise a Capture post from that man.

Would love to see one, please.

  • Hard News: The greening of the Red Zone,

Great pics. Very, very sobering images. I expect a lot of the people that lived in those streets are sick of talking about the 'quake and subsequent issues, but it'd be fascinating to take some of them back to where their houses once were and to interview them about their life their in general.
There'd be some great memories and anecdotes, I reckon.
