Busytown: Sorry About That, Chief

  • David Haywood,

    Jolisa,

Thanks for all the hospitality on the weekend, as well as your kind comments on my forthcoming collection of words (I will pay you the bribe money as soon as I get my next salary payment from Public Address).

And, wow, the machine in your photograph is uncannily like my book-scribbler-o-tron, except that it doesn't show the giant syringes that penetrate into the operator's brain (via their eyeballs).

Yes, we like to think of Bob-the-baby as a reformed character these days. Although he did have a relapse on the way to Newark airport yesterday -- an entire hour of solid screaming -- which reminded us what the bad old Bob was like.

Very impressed by your tonsorial skills, incidentally...

  • Danielle,

Jolisa, you have my undying devotion for the namechecking of Gerald McBoing-Boing.

Also, the intense cuteness: it burns.

  • Emma Hart,

Oh, the curls, not the gorgeous golden curls! I miss them so much.

And I note that despite your glowing testamonials re young Master Robert, he is unconscious in that photo (something that oddly doesn't diminish his resemblance to his father).

  • Jackie Clark,

Thanks for putting those photos in, Jolisa. It's nice to put faces to the boys antics.

  • Don Christie,

And the results - I’ve had a preview -- are seriously exquisite. A collection of essays you will be proud to own, and to purchase for your friends and relations.

Good. Did he say whether it would be out in time for Christmas?

  • Venetia King,

Reading this earlier today made me laugh so hard I could barely breathe. I was glad I'd gone home for lunch as it's not a pretty sight... Thanks, you cheered me up no end after a rather trying morning.

Barring terrible disasters, my book should be out by the end of November/beginning of December. I'm advising all buyers to lower their expectations before reading.

I'm hoping that we'll have a book from Jolisa shortly after that.

Before reading but after buying, right?

  • Deborah,

What beautiful children. All three of them. Almost as beautiful as mine, and that's saying a lot! :-)

There will be a trans-Tasman release of that book, won't there, Dr Haywood? Please? Or am I going to have to wait until we head back to NZ for a few weeks after Christmas?

I must say that you're certainly an excellent judge of beauty, Deborah. Yes, the lads have boldly seized the torch of NZ's international reputation for beautiful people (as previously carried by Lorraine, Rachel (patron of the Rachel Hunter Lowland Gorilla Fund), Jemaine, and Bret).

There will be a trans-Tasman release of that book, won't there, Dr Haywood?

Oh yes, it will be available internationally on Amazon and via the Public Address Books website (probably the best option for you as postage will be cheaper to Australia).

Ha! Our sales-thugs will be paying your nearest and dearest a visit at dawn on the day the book goes on sale. I shall instruct them to be as persuasive as possible (within the limitations of the UN convention on human rights, of course).

  • Jolisa,

Thanks for all the compliments on the delicious children. It is amazing what you can do with photoshop and/or a soapy flannel.

Bob, on the other hand, is unretouchable. I can testify that he is spectacularly gorgeous (if something of a wimp).

Emma, my boys are jealous - your guy has a room of his OWN??

Oh, and Danielle, check it out:

Yes indeedy. What you need to explain to them is that my boy has a sister, not a brother, and while they shared a room until Boy was about six, we really couldn't have kept it up.

So, y'know, one of them should have been a girl. They can work out which one among themselves.
