  • Carol Stewart,

Well, it's a bit late but I;'m going to throw my story in anyway. In 2007 my lad was eight and had a teacher who was right into entering every competition going. Air NZ ran a competition for making the best support video for the ABs, and my lad's class won it! (they re-wrote Bad Moon Rising for the occasion). The prize was a visit to the school by the All Blacks and the provision of a a barbeque for the entire school community. Wow, we all thought. We pictured marquees and unlimited bubbly and liveried waitpersons and so on. And then .. that game with France, of which it is still too soon to speak. The ABs still had to honour their commitment to the school, of course, but it was a fairly subdued occasion with four of the wellington-based ABs turning up in a taxi, and a mobile hot dog stand! They still had to front up to talk to the kids in class though.

  • Ian Dalziel,

    Albatross...
Has John Key spent his political capital by casting his lot with
    the loser Warriors...
He is certainly the albatross round all our necks, can we keep him away from the rest of the All Blacks games, please...

    The ticket that exploded...
Ross, very sorry to hear about your loss, did you try the police in case someone had handed them in?

  • Kyle Matthews,

Ross, very sorry to hear about your loss, did you try the police in case someone had handed them in?

Did you try and find out if anyone was sitting in the seats to see if someone had stolen them, or found them and not done the right thing?

  • Ross Mason,

Thought about all of the above. But I figured I didn't think there was any way I could have rolled up and convinced the gate nazis to "go and see if those seats are empty and if they are then they are ours" would work. ...Since I picked them up from a workmate I didn't even have proof of purchase.

Anyway. I DID enjoy the closeup TV shots (certainly would have missed from our seats) of the Tongan front row giving the French stick in the last few minutes. There was no doubt, no doubt at all they realised the significance of what they had achieved.

  • Carol Stewart,

You could check out the fanzone on the waterfront, Ross, we watched the France/Tonga game from there and it was great. Nice crowd, far superior food to the stadium, and the Ukulele Orchestra to entertain us.

That was fantastic. Shame they lost to Canada.

Despite the upsets, the semi-finalists all looked pretty likely before the tournament. The only real unknowns were whether Argentina would go over Scotland and Samoa over Wales. The upsets that happened just changed some rankings around, they didn't really mean a team missed out that looked likely to get through.
