Aucklanders: the RASSLIN' is awesome also.

the regency period saw zombies in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
I have just finished this book, and it was, in my considered critical over-educated opinion, fucking appalling.
That's all. Public health warning.

The only zombies I really enjoy any more are the drinks (and then only in moderation because… well… let's leave that story alone).
Must. Resist. Temptation.
I just started following Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright on Twitter. It has made me crave to watch Shaun of the Dead something wicked.

I didn't like the half of it that I read, but I assume that's because of the Austen-ness of it.

I hated Shaun of the Dead. But, Zombieland looks like it'll be awesome

Don't fight it Haydyn, zombie domination is inevitable

I hated Shaun of the Dead
You are dead to me, Green. Dead.

I hated Shaun of the Dead.
Heathen! Though I think Shaun improves the more you are into zombie movies, as it pokes good fun at them.

Ah, except that I don't think I'd ever seen a Zombie movie before seeing it.

Wait for it... I didn't like Spaced either. I did like Hot Fuzz though

Yeah? Well I don't like moustaches, so take that!

You tell him Jo!
(Although, of Spaced/Shaun/Fuzz, Spaced is my least favourite.)

You know who else didn't like moustaches? Oh, wait...

Can I just say, that although zombies appear to have been everywhere, there's been vampires in space too:
(when you're as old as me you remember some strange stuff)
-
I'll take zombies any day of the week over the dreary, cod-Anne Rice fascination with vampires that was de rigeur among many of my peer group at varsity in the mid 90s. I always found the whole vampire thing intensely annoying (still do); at least zombies don't take themselves so bloody seriously.
Though I do think we need more werewolf movies.
Another plug for the Halloween Howl tonight in Wellington. Wrestling, ho! (I won't be going myself, but I'm well down with Dr Diablo)
And I've been a fan of Pegg et al since randomly finding Spaced on TV while channel-surfing back in the UK in around 2000. My wife came into the room two minutes later to find out why I was helpless with laughter.

Everybody who's anybody knows that Lazarus Volt is the wrestler to support. However, since he's not fighting tonight, off you go.
-
The thing about zombie movies is this: the actors are cheap and lack of talent doesn't hurt the part

Yet again I'm recalling Pratchett - from TV Tropes:
'...let's not forget the young vampires in Carpe Jugulum, who try to freak out their elders by wearing bright clothes, stay up until noon, and call themselves names like "Henry" or "Pam". They even pretend to drink wine, although only "real weirdos who file their teeth blunt" actually do.'

absence makes the heart grow fonder..

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is like a Worth 1000 mash-up that's somehow been fleshed out into an actual novel.
It's just something that's so hot right now that's rapidly jumping the zombie shark.

I liked Shaun of the Dead. However, Zombieland is indeed awesome for mine.

Space vampires?
First I thought of was "Lifeforce" (which was titled "Space Vampires" for the UK):Although, to be fair I thought this was more zombies than vampires. And Buck Rogers got there first with the idea.
