  • andrew llewellyn,

Heh. Always wanted to do that.

To me, a more likely interpretation is that the citizens of Wanganui hate their mayor's guts as much as the rest of New Zealand, and want to see him shamed and humiliated on live television

I quite agree, it'd be the only reason they're supposedly bombarding the powers that be with votes for the guy. Revenge.

I am shamelessly hooked (actually, the girls are & there's nothing I can do about it). But now, 2nd show in the can etc, I am convinced that the powers that be told the judges that be to go easy on the Holmes.

I'm also convinced that Bunce & his partner (who I cannot tell apart from the other one that looks just like her) will be appearing in the women's mags giving us waaaaay too much information about what they do apres dance practise.

  • Robyn Gallagher,

    First!

It needs to be accompanied by another three people also saying "first", including one with serious caching troubles who has posted their "first" at least 20 minutes after the others.

But on the blog topic, I reckon the first seven paragraphs could easily have been ditched.

There ain't no shame in watching Dancing With The Stars, David. You don't have to justify your guilty pleasure. You are amongst friends. We all watch crap on TV and enjoy it.

A little unfair to pick on Laws after his recent brain injury don't you think?

  • Juha Saarinen,

Some people wear their hearts on their sleeves, but Laws wears a... umm, never mind.

So you watched Gnomes and Laws in the same programme? Stronger constitution than mine then.

  • Judi Lapsley Miller,

I readily admit to watching the last two seasons of DWTS, but when I heard both Laws and the gnome were to be on this season, my stomach turned. I can't bring myself to tune in until I've heard that both have been eliminated - but I'm sure it will be contrived so that the final pratfall will be right at the end!

BTW guys, don't panic about me mentioning the Gunnster, I mentioned him on my blog some years ago & not a single person has ever googled the tyke's name. Ever.

  • Riddley Walker,

nice post david. it's a strange thing being drawn to looking at car crashes isn't it?
your characterization of and subsequent comments on Laws are accurate if not a little too forgiving.
i had the same feeling for that short old guy who used to be on tv, but remember if he had his warrant back he'd be back in the saddle weilding his sword of banality and consciousness destruction with greater gusto than ever. so i think he can be left to crash his toy planes without too much sympathy.

  • hamishm,

I must confess to not being tempted ever by the deep-fried Mars bar that is Come Dancing. I would like to see M.Laws fall over or pull a hammy in a vital clinch but then I am a vindictive ex-Wanganuvian and have a chip on my shoulder about showpony mayors.
As David Haywood asks "Why do they do it???". Then one realises that the celebrity pool is still kind of shallow in NZ and I suppose that someone has to do it

Shrek was auditioned but fired due to continually rubbishing the network, the show and his trailer. Michael Laws has been implicated in threatening to shave Shrek again due to his upstaging him.

I was popping into Public Address last night, ready for a little intellectual quickstep, and ... there were no posts between 8.30 and 10. You've all been rumba-rumbled.

Sadly I have found this "fan video" which does have the original soundtrack of Shatners version.
