What an excellent idea can nurse my hangover from the NewArtland launch. I must say it was a beautifully constructed hangover.

Placebos Are Getting More Effective. Drugmakers Are Desperate to Know Why.

Perhaps it is because placebos are getting more expensive. And everyone knows that more expensive placebos work better than cheap placebos...

But seriously, although price appears to be one determinant of the size of the placebo effect, if people think they are on some new miracle drug, it seems reasonable to assume that that might have a similar effect.

Dude, we're up on Ward 28 if you do get called in. Expected time for me to be sitting in this chair in the lounge waiting to see the dr: 20 minutes to three hours.

  • Stephen Judd,

Apropos placebos' increased effectiveness, one theory is that in the US, drug advertising to consumers has been allowed for some years and is now pervasive. So US residents effectively get a lot more propaganda about the powers of medicine than they used to, and their belief in the efficacy of drugs has increased.

True, but the point size is usually way too small, and often in colour combinations that even Oz Magazine didn't try in the '60s.

  • Andre,

i asked Spiro, John Roughan and Mr Boock if they had thought about the rugby fight in terms of the non-acceptance of violence within other sports. They already thought that I was a wanker but that unfortunately perhaps sealed it for them.
